Depression and quality of life in hemodialysis patients attending a private clinic in Metropolitan Lima, 2022

Abstract

This thesis study sought to establish the relationship between depression and quality of life in hemodialysis patients. The Methodology was quantitative, hypothetical - deductive, applied type, non-experimental, correlational and transversal; with a population of 85 patients who attend a private clinic in Lima. The instruments were two (02) questionnaires, the Beck version 2 instrument of 21 items to assess depression and the SF-36 version 2 instrument of 36 items to assess the QoL of the patients. To process the data, SPSS v-25 was used. The present thesis reveals in its results that the serious relationship of the depression variable is associated with the bad level of the quality-of-life variable in 15.3% in 13 patients, there is also a slight relationship of the depression variable with the good level of the variable. quality of life by 15.3%. The other ratios are less than and equal to the percentage of 14.1%. The study concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between depression and quality of life in hemodialysis patients. The statistical values show a degree of relationship Rho = 0.225 and significance value p=0.038.

El presente estudio de tesis buscó establecer la relación entre la depresión y calidad de vida (CV) en pacientes hemodializados. La Metodología fue cuantitativo, hipotético - deductivo, tipo aplicada, no experimental, correlacional y transversal; con una población de 85 pacientes que acuden a una clínica privada de Lima. Los instrumentos fueron dos (02) cuestionarios, el instrumento Beck versión 2 de 21 ítems para evaluar la depresión y el instrumento SF-36 versión 2 de 36 ítems para evaluar la cv de los pacientes. Para procesar los datos, se empleó el SPSS v-25. La presente tesis revela en sus resultados que, la relación grave de variable depresión se asocia al nivel malo de la variable calidad de vida en un 15.3% en 13 pacientes, también hay una relación leve de la variable depresión con el nivel bueno de la variable calidad de vida en un 15.3%. Las otras relaciones son menores e iguales al porcentaje del 14.1%. El estudio llegó a la conclusión que, existe relación estadísticamente significativa entre la depresión y calidad de vida en pacientes hemodializados. Los valores estadísticos muestran un grado de relación Rho = 0,225 y valor de la significancia p=0,038.
