Knowledge and practice of the nursing professional in the administration of vasoactive drugs in the intensive care unit of a private clinic in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: An adverse event, which is described as an occurrence that harms the patient's health, hinders recovery, increases hospital costs, length of stay and, in more serious situations, even causes death, can also be caused by an error in the administration of a drug. Objective: To determine the relationship between the nursing professional's knowledge and practice on the administration of vasoactive drugs in the Intensive Care Unit of a private clinic. Methodology: Hypothetico-deductive method, quantitative approach, applied research type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational level. Population: 80 nurses working in the intensive care unit of a private clinic. Two surveys in the form of questionnaires will be applied to measure both study variables. For the validation and reliability of both instruments, Arriaga's work applied in the year 2022 will be taken into account, which was validated by means of expert judgments and Pearson's correlation coefficient with a value of 0.695 for the first variable and 0.7 for the second variable. Likewise, for reliability, a pilot test was applied with 10 participants, obtaining a Cronbach's alpha of 0.7 for the first variable and 0.8 for the second variable, whose values indicated that both instruments were valid and reliable for the study. Likewise, the results will be presented in statistical tables and graphs, making an inferential test using Spearman's Rho statistic to establish the correlation coefficient of the variables.

Un acontecimiento adverso que se describe como un suceso que perjudica la salud del paciente, obstaculiza su recuperación, eleva los gastos hospitalarios, la duración de la estancia y, en situaciones más graves, incluso provoca la muerte y, éste puede ser provocado también por un error en la administración de un medicamento. Objetivo: Determinar relación entre el conocimiento y la práctica del profesional de enfermería sobre la administración de fármacos vasoactivos en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de una Clínica Privada de Lima – Perú en 2023. Metodología: Método hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo de investigación aplicada, diseño no experimental, corte transversal y nivel correlacional. Población de 80 enfermeras que trabajan en el servicio de la unidad de cuidados intensivos de una Clínica Privada. Se aplicarán dos encuestas en forma de cuestionarios para mediar ambas variables de estudio.
