Level of nurse's knowledge and practices on the prevention of pneumonia in patients subjected to mechanical ventilation at Villa El Salvador Emergency Hospital, 2022

Abstract

Objective: To identify the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices of nurses regarding the prevention of pneumonia in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation. Methodology: The type of research will be applied, with a quantitative approach, and the design will be non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational. Population and Sample: The population will consist of 115 ICU nurses, and the corresponding probabilistic calculation will be performed, determining that the sample size will be 89 individuals. The instruments will be applied to this sample during the period from October to December 2022. Technique and Instruments: The techniques to be used will be surveys and observation, with the instruments being the knowledge questionnaire and observation guide regarding pneumonia prevention. These instruments have a Kuder-Richardson reliability of 0.95 and 0.76, respectively. Data Processing and Analysis: The data will be recorded in an Excel spreadsheet for registration, classification, and control, then analyzed using SPSS 27.0 statistical software, where the corresponding measurements will be made. The relationship between the study variables will be determined using the Chi-square hypothesis statistical test.

Objetivo: Identificar la relación existente entre el nivel de conocimientos y las prácticas del enfermero sobre la prevención de neumonía en pacientes sometidos a ventilación mecánica. Metodología: El tipo de investigación será aplicada, el enfoque propuesto corresponderá al cuantitativo, y en cuanto al diseño será el no experimental, descriptivo, y correlacional. Población y Muestra: La población constará de 115 enfermeros de UCI, al que se le efectuará el cálculo probabilístico correspondiente, determinándose que la muestra a tratar equivaldrá a 89 individuos. A dicha muestra se le aplicará los instrumentos correspondientes de octubre a diciembre del 2022. Técnica e Instrumentos: Las técnicas a aplicarse serán la encuesta y la observación, siendo los instrumentos que se aplicarán el cuestionario de conocimientos y guía de observación respecto de la prevención en neumonía, los que cuentan con una confiabilidad de Kuder Richardson de 0,95 y 0,76 respectivamente. Procesamiento y análisis de datos: La data se consignará en una plantilla excel para su registro, clasificación y control, luego será analizada a través del software SPSS 27.0, donde se harán las mediciones correspondientes. Respecto de la relación existente entre las variables en estudio se determinará a través de la prueba estadística de hipótesis de Chi cuadrado.
