Level of knowledge and practices on prevention of infections associated with health care in nursing professionals of the surgical center of a national hospital of Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Health care-associated infections (HAIs) are infections that patients acquire while receiving medical or surgical care. Initially, they referred to those infections linked to admission to a hospital or in-hospital; are infections that first appear 48 hours or more after hospitalization or within 30 days of receiving health care, causing adverse events; also, these infections develop during the course of treatment and result in illness and major patient deaths (morbidity and mortality). Objective: Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices on the prevention of infections associated with health care in nursing professionals of the Surgical Center of a National Hospital of Lima 2023. Methodology: The study method is hypothetical-deductive. , quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental, correlational design. The population will be made up of 30 nursing professionals, sampling will be nonprobabilistic for convenience. The study techniques will be surveys and two validated questionnaires. To collect data, processing will be carried out using the Microsoft Excel 2021 statistical program and the SPSS Statistical Program version 26.0; and the Spearman Correlation Test (Rh0) to determine the relationship between the variables

Introducción: Las infecciones asociadas a la atención de salud (IAAS), son infecciones que los pacientes adquieren mientras reciben atención médica o quirúrgicas; son infecciones que aparecen por primera vez 48 horas o más después de la hospitalización o dentro de los 30 días posteriores a haber recibido atención de salud, trayendo consigo eventos adversos; asimismo, estas infecciones se desarrollan durante el curso del tratamiento y resultan en enfermedades y muertes importantes del paciente (morbilidad y mortalidad). Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimientos y las prácticas sobre la prevención de infecciones asociadas a la atención de salud en los profesionales de enfermería del Centro Quirúrgico de un Hospital Nacional de Lima 2023. Metodología: El método de estudio es hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada, diseño no experimental, correlacional. La población estará conformada por 30 profesionales de enfermería, muestreo será no probabilístico por conveniencia. Las técnicas de estudio serán encuestas y dos cuestionarios validados. Para la recolección de datos se procederá al procesamiento mediante el programa estadístico Microsoft Excel 2021 y el Programa Estadístico SPSS versión 26.0; y la Prueba de Correlación de Spearman (Rh0) para determinar la relación entre las variables.
