Knowledge about biosafety measures and nursing practice in the emergency service of a hospital in Lima, 2023

Abstract

The emergency service is a care space that needs to maintain strict biosecurity measures, given the permanent risk of contagion from a nosocomial infection. Hence, the role of nursing professionals is key to ensure compliance with the respective protocols. However, it has been possible to detect serious deficiencies regarding the knowledge and practice of biosafety measures, a scenario that can cause complications for patients who come to this service. OBJECTIVE: determine how knowledge of biosafety measures is related to nursing practice in the emergency service of a hospital in Lima, 2023. MATERIALS AND METHODS: it is quantitative, applied, correlational, non-experimental cross-sectional. 80 nurses will participate. The data to measure the variables knowledge and practice of biosafety measures will be collected through a questionnaire and a checklist.

OBJETIVO: determinar cómo el conocimiento sobre medidas de bioseguridad se relaciona con la práctica de enfermería en el servicio de emergencia de un hospital de Lima, 2023. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: es cuantitativo, aplicado, correlacional, no experimental - transversal. Participarán 80 enfermeros. Los datos para medir las variables conocimiento y práctica de medidas de bioseguridad serán recogidos mediante un cuestionario y una lista de cotejo. Para la medición de las variables se utilizará el Rho de Spearman.
