Knowledge of arterial hypertension and practice of self-care in the elderly program in a Lima hospital 2023

Abstract

Worldwide, high blood pressure is a major public health problem. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) reports that hypertension is the main risk factor for suffering from cardiovascular disease, and that in the region of the Americas each year there are 1.6 million deaths from cardiovascular diseases, of which around half million are under 70 years of age, the proposed objective, the objective of the following research was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about arterial hypertension and self-care practice in patients of the older adult program in a hospital in Lima, 2023, research type quantitative, explanatory cross-sectional non-experimental, the sample will be made up of one hundred older adults, between men and women, to whom two standardized questionnaires were applied, for the analysis of the data the Kolmogorov Smirnov test (KS) will be performed to determine if the variables assume the assumptions of normality, in order to identify the Z value >=< .0.5, the results will be shown in cross tables, correlation matrix and dispersion points as well as central frequency tables.

A nivel mundial, la hipertensión arterial es un problema importante de salud pública. La Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) informa que la hipertensión es el principal factor de riesgo para sufrir una enfermedad cardiovascular, y que en la Región de las Américas cada año ocurren 1.6 millones de muertes por enfermedades cardiovasculares. El objetivo propuesto para esta investigación fue: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre hipertensión arterial y práctica de autocuidado en pacientes del programa adulto mayor en un hospital de Lima, 2023; investigación de tipo cuantitativo, no experimental, de corte transversal y correlacional, la muestra estará conformada por 44 adultos mayores entre varones y mujeres, a quienes se les aplicará los dos cuestionarios validados mediante la técnica de la encuesta; para el análisis de datos se realizará la Prueba de Kolmogorow Smirnov (KS), para determinar si existe relación entre las variables de estudio se aplicará la Prueba Estadística de Correlación de Spearman (RHO).
