Functional disability and level of knowledge of nonspecific lumbalgia in patients at the los Alamos Specialized Medical Center, period 2023

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between functional disability and the level of knowledge of nonspecific low back pain in patients at the Los Álamos Specialized Medical Center, 2023.

Materials and Methods: The method used was hypothetical-deductive, and the research approach was quantitative. The population consisted of 106 patients with nonspecific low back pain at the Los Álamos Specialized Medical Center, and the sample consisted of 83 patients. The sampling method was non-probabilistic and census-based.

Results: The age group distribution indicates that the majority of the sample falls within the 46-50 years range (46.99%). The second largest group is composed of patients aged 55-60 years (30.12%), while 22.89% belongs to the 40-45 years age range. The sample is slightly dominated by females, with 55.42%, and 44.58% are male. Most participants have a poor level of knowledge about nonspecific low back pain, with 46.99%. 33.73% have a moderate level of knowledge, and only 19.28% have an excellent theoretical knowledge level. The majority have a poor theoretical knowledge level about low back pain (69.88%). 30.12% have excellent theoretical knowledge about low back pain.

Conclusions: Regarding knowledge about the complications and consequences of low back pain, the majority of participants show a poor level of understanding. Regarding knowledge about preventive measures and self-care for low back pain, the majority of participants also demonstrate a poor level. There is a relationship between functional disability and the knowledge of nonspecific low back pain.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre la incapacidad funcional y el nivel de conocimiento de la lumbalgia inespecífica en pacientes del Centro Médico Especializado Los Álamos, periodo 2023. Materiales y Métodos: El método fue hipotético deductivo, el enfoque de la investigación fue Cuantitativa, la población estuvo conformada por 106 pacientes con lumbalgia inespecífica en pacientes del Centro Médico Especializado Los Álamos, la muestra estará conformada por 83 pacientes, el tipo de muestreo fue de manera no probabilístico de tipo censal. Resultados: la distribución por grupo etario indica que la mayoría del grupo de muestra pertenece al rango de 46 a 50 años (46.99%). En segundo lugar, se ubican los pacientes con edades entre 55 y 60 años (30.12 %). El 22.89% restante pertenece al grupo de entre 40 y 45 años. La muestra está representada por una ligera mayoría el género femenino con un 55.42%, mientras que el 44.58% está conformado por personas del género masculino, en su mayoría el grupo posee un nivel deficiente de conocimiento de la lumbalgia inespecífica con un 46.99%. El 33.73% posee un nivel moderado de conocimiento. Solo el 19.28% posee un nivel excelente de conocimiento teórico, la mayoría presenta un nivel deficiente de conocimiento teórico sobre lumbalgia con un 69.88%. El 30.12% posee un nivel excelente de conocimiento teórico sobre lumbalgia. Conclusiones: Según el conocimiento sobre complicaciones y consecuencias de la lumbalgia se indica que la mayoría de los participantes presenta un nivel deficiente, según el conocimiento acerca de las medidas preventivas y de autocuidado de la lumbalgia se indica que la mayoría de los participantes presenta un nivel deficiente, existe relación entre la incapacidad funcional y el conocimiento de lumbalgia inespecífica se relacionan entre sí.
