Thoracic range and degree of sliding in patients with lumbar spondylolysthesis of Santa Maria - fisiocenter, period 2022

Abstract

Spondylolisthesis refers to the sliding of one vertebral body over another, which can occur forward, backward, or sideways, due to various causes. It typically occurs in the lumbar region at levels L4, L5, and S1, and may be asymptomatic for some individuals. There is considerable research on low back pain or nonspecific lumbalgia caused by various pathologies, leading to respiratory dysfunction and complications related to chest expansion. However, there are no studies linking lumbar pain caused by vertebral displacement or lumbar spondylolisthesis with other symptoms in the body, particularly in the thoracic area. This study aims to determine the relationship between chest expansion and lumbar spondylolisthesis, concluding that a relationship exists, potentially caused by pain according to the Meyerding classification and its SDSG classification. There are few studies related to this research, so it aims to provide new information and improve the clinical condition of each patient. It also highlights the importance of its impact on the health of adults with lumbar spondylolisthesis.

La espondilolistesis es un trastorno que se refiere al deslizamiento de un cuerpo vertebral sobre otro inferior, que puede ser hacia delante, atrás o a los lados; por muchas posibles causas. Generalmente se da en la región lumbar a niveles de L4, L5 y S1, siendo para algunos asintomáticos. Actualmente, existen muchos estudios sobre el dolor lumbar o lumbalgia inespecífica a causa de diversas patologías y que ocasione disfunción respiratoria manifestando complicaciones en relación a la expansión torácica8; sin embargo, no hay estudios que demuestren alguna relación del dolor lumbar que sea ocasionado por el desplazamiento de las vértebras lumbares o espondilolistesis lumbar con los diferentes síntomas que consecuentemente trae esta patología hacia otras zonas del cuerpo en especial el tórax. Esta investigación se dio para determinar si hay alguna relación entre la amplitud torácica y la espondilolistesis lumbar la cual ha concluido que existe una relación. Que pueden ser por diversas causas entre ellas el dolor que causa según la clasificación de Meyerding y su clasificación de SDSG. No hay muchos estudios relacionados con esta investigación por lo que se pretendió a dar nueva información y mejorar la condición clínica de cada paciente.
