Association of the magnitude of antegonial curvature with facial proportion in patients of the private clinic in 2022

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to establish the association between the magnitude of the antegonial curvature and the facial proportion to establish standard characteristics for a group of patients. Materials and Methods: 131 cephalometric radiographs of patients aged 8 to 15 of both sexes attending a private clinic were evaluated. All radiographs were traced with anatomical drawings on acetate paper, outlining the facial proportion according to Björk for evaluating the facial biotype and a tangent to the mandibular border to assess the depth of the antegonial curvature. These were then validated using the Spearman-Brown test with a 95% confidence level. Results: A positive correlation was found between the magnitude of the antegonial curvature and the facial proportion (p˂0.05), showing a downward inclination (rho=0.003). Conclusion: The evidence presented demonstrates that the evaluation allows identifying the association of the antegonial curvature depth with the facial proportion, showing a direct relationship.

la presente investigación tiene como objetivo establecer la asociación de la magnitud de la curvatura antegonial con la proporción facial de forma que nos permita establecer características estándares de un grupo de pacientes. Materiales y Métodos: se evaluaron 131 radiografías cefalométricas de pacientes entre 8 y 15 años de ambos sexos que acuden a la clínica privada. Todas las radiografías se realizaron los dibujos anatómicos a través de papel de acetato en la cual se trazaron la proporción facial según Björk para la evaluación del biotipo facial y una tangente al borde mandibular para evaluar la profundidad de la curvatura antegonial para luego validarlas mediante la prueba de Spearman -Brown con un nivel de confianza al 95%. Resultados: existe una correlación positiva entre la magnitud de la curvatura antegonial y la proporción facial (p˂0.05, presentando una inclinación hacia abajo(rho=0.003). Conclusión: la evidencia presentada demuestra que la evaluación permite identificar la asociación de la profundidad de la magnitud antegonial con la proporción facial demostrando una relación directa.
