Risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease in individuals visiting the triage area of Breña Health Center, Lima — 2019

Abstract

Objective: Determine the relationship between the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular in people who attend the triage area of ​​the Breña Health Center, Lima - 2019. Materials and methods: It was a study with a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, descriptive in nature. cross. We worked with a sample of 150 patients aged 40 to 78 years who were overweight and/or reported total blood cholesterol levels above normal values ​​who attended the triage area of ​​the Breña Health Center. The data collection technique was the survey and the instruments used were the FINDRISC questionnaire and the CVR calculator. Results: There is a significant relationship between the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk in people who attend the triage area of ​​the Breña Health Center (p < 0.05). Regarding the risk of type 2 diabetes, the slightly elevated level predominated (40.7%); followed by the moderate level (30.7%); high level (20%); and low level (8.7%). Regarding cardiovascular risk, low risk predominated (79.3%); followed by moderate risk (16%); very high risk (2.7%); and high risk (2%). Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación del riesgo de diabetes tipo 2 y cardiovascular en personas que acuden al área de triaje del Centro de Salud Breña, Lima – 2019. Materiales y métodos: Fue un estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, descriptivo de corte transversal. Se trabajó con una muestra de 150 pacientes de 40 a 78 años con sobrepeso y/o reporte de niveles de colesterol total en sangre por encima de los valores normales que acuden al área de triaje del Centro de Salud Breña. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la encuesta y los instrumentos utilizados fueron el cuestionario FINDRISC y la calculadora de RCV. Resultados: Existe una relación significativa entre el riesgo de desarrollo de diabetes tipo 2 y el riesgo cardiovascular en personas que acuden al área de triaje del Centro de Salud Breña (p < 0,05). En cuanto al riesgo de diabetes tipo 2, predominó el nivel ligeramente elevado (40,7%); seguido del nivel moderado (30.7%); nivel alto (20%); y nivel bajo (8.7%). En cuanto al riesgo cardiovascular, predominó el riesgo bajo (79.3%); seguido del riesgo moderado (16%); riesgo muy alto (2.7%); y riesgo alto (2%). Conclusiones: Existe relación significativa entre el riesgo de desarrollo de diabetes tipo 2 y cardiovascular.
