Knowledge and practice in the high temperature sterilization process carried out by the nursing professional of an EsSalud hospital, Puno 2024

Abstract

Introduction: The study is based on the sterilization center as an important area to prevent hospital infections because many of them are related to inadequate sterilization of reusable hospital supplies. For this reason, the nurse in this field plays a fundamental role by being responsible for cleaning, preparing, packaging, sterilizing and storing sterile materials, assuming full responsibility for ensuring that all procedures are carried out effectively and safely for care. of the patient. Objective: “To determine how knowledge and practice are related to the high-temperature sterilization process carried out by the nursing professional in the sterilization center of an ESSALUD hospital in Puno, 2024”. Methodology: it was framed in the quantitative approach, hypothetical deductive method, with a non-experimental design of applied type, correlational and transversal scope. The instruments selected for measuring the variables were the questionnaire. The statistics for data processing are SPSS 25.0. In the hypothesis test, the Spearman coefficient will be used to determine the correlation.

El estudio se basa en el centro de esterilización como área importante para prevenir infecciones hospitalarias porque muchas de ellas están relacionadas con una esterilización inadecuada de los suministros hospitalarios reutilizables. Por este motivo, el enfermero en este campo juega un papel fundamental al ser el responsable de limpiar, preparar, envasar, esterilizar y almacenar materiales esterilizados, asumiendo la total responsabilidad de garantizar que todos los procedimientos se realicen de forma eficaz y segura para la atención del paciente. Objetivo: “Determinar cómo se relaciona el conocimiento y la práctica en el proceso de esterilización a alta temperatura que realiza el profesional de enfermería de un hospital, ESSALUD, Puno 2024”. Metodología: se enmarcó en el enfoque cuantitativo, método hipotético deductivo, con un diseño no experimental de tipo aplicado, de alcance correlacional y transversal. Los instrumentos seleccionados para la medición de las variables fue el cuestionario. El estadístico para el procesamiento de la data es el SPSS 25.0. En la prueba de hipótesis se empleará para determinar la correlación el coeficiente de Spearman.
