Pharmacotherapeutic adherence is a discipline that patients must follow as guided by the prescriber to promote recovery or improvement and prevent complications in the body's functionality. Objective: To evaluate adherence to antidiabetic treatment in hospitalized patients at the COVID-19 Temporary Care and Isolation Center, Villa Panamericana, Lima, 2022. Method: The study was conducted using a deductive method with a quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional approach. The study involved 217 hospitalized patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. To measure pharmacotherapeutic adherence, the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) was used, validated by expert judgment, considering the following dimensions: sociodemographic data, clinical data, and therapeutic regimen. Microsoft Excel and SPSS v25 statistical software were used to analyze the results. Results: Among the 217 patients surveyed, 82% did not adhere to their pharmacological treatment. Of these, 82.1% were women, and 85.6% were over 60 years old. Additionally, 92.5% had only primary education, and 86.8% were from rural areas—all these groups were non-adherent to treatment. Regarding clinical data, 92.5% of patients were obese, 86.1% had fasting hyperglycemia, and 85.5% were receiving oral hypoglycemics and insulin. Among the treatment types, 86.7% were on dual therapy. Conclusion: In the studied population, 82% did not follow medical prescriptions, increasing the risk of complications and comorbidities associated with their condition.

Características de la prescripción, disponibilidad y expendio de antimicrobianos en farmacias y boticas del distrito de Independencia – DISA V, setiembre 2014
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Flores Valencia, Genaro David; Icho Yacupoma, Ruth Gricelda; Caldas Herrera, Emma
This research focused on the prescription, availability, and dispensing practices of antimicrobials in pharmacies and drugstores in the district of Independencia, DISA V – Lima, September 2014. The study was descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective, and data were collected through a dispensing/care form that recorded information about antimicrobials prescribed according to patients’ conditions. Results showed that 67.13% of prescribed antimicrobials were included in the National List of Essential Medicines, but only 41.71% were prescribed using their International Nonproprietary Name, a value below the expected target. Additionally, 23.48% of antimicrobials were substituted at the time of dispensing. The evaluation of treatment parameters indicated that dosage (87.85%), frequency of administration (88.67%), and treatment duration (88.95%) were outside the expected range. In pharmacies and drugstores, 23.48% of antimicrobials were replaced due to lack of availability or recommendation of alternatives, and only 67.13% of dispensed antimicrobials corresponded to the National List of Essential Medicines. These findings reveal shortcomings in antimicrobial prescribing and dispensing practices, underscoring the need for improved compliance with national guidelines to ensure safe and rational use of medicines.

To achieve health-related objectives in relation to medical care and improving the quality of life of patients, medical devices are considered an indispensable element in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. In this context, it is essential to take into account the risks that technology entails in the post-marketing of these products, since these devices can cause serious injuries or death to the patient if not addressed appropriately. (1) According to the WHO, in the United States, approximately one million "adverse events due to medical devices" are reported each year, which is worrying because they could be fatal. Its objective is to reduce the number of injuries, illnesses and deaths caused by medical devices, it established strategic links with health leaders worldwide to address the existing problem. (2) In addition, the WHO states that the accessibility and optimal use of medical devices is one of the concerns raised within the Millennium Development Goals. Due to the wide range of devices, problems related to quality, failure in labeling / manufacturing, inadequate modifications, poor assembly, incorrect use, erroneous selection of usage parameters, accidental spills, wrong connections, environmental factors, electromagnetic interference, loss of power supply, inappropriate technical specifications prior to purchase, inadequate storage, lack of training, lack of policy in hospitals, among others, are frequently found. (4) Several published articles show that the main causes of adverse events are: non-compliance with the regulations established in the context of technovigilance, lack of knowledge and inappropriate use of health technology. In the current context of the pandemic, there is greater concern because medical resources are scarce, which impacts the need to expedite interventions, reports, notifications and there may be greater characterization of these events, which represent a high impact on both economic and social aspects that affect security; constituting an adverse event that can be prevented. (5) (6). These findings warrant increased research and studies that demonstrate the application of technovigilance programs, which are extremely necessary to demonstrate compliance with current regulations regarding user training, quality, safety, performance and efficiency of products, and which in turn contribute to reducing the occurrence of adverse events. The Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital is a category III-2 health care institution, it has been serving insured personnel for more than 80 years, it is large and receives patients Referrals from Lima Centro, Lima Este, and Lima Norte, which is why the flow of patients treated is quite high. In this sense, the likelihood of various events related to medical devices is also high, which is why the decision was made to conduct the investigation at this institution.

For combination therapy with meropenem and vancomycin, the most common diagnoses were Community-Acquired Pneumonia (14.8%) and Urinary Tract Infection (11.1%). Regarding authorization by infectology consultation, 83% of meropenem use was authorized, while 17% was not. For vancomycin-treated patients, 90% were not authorized by infectology, and 10% were authorized. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that usage characteristics and pharmacovigilance are baseline instruments that should be permanent to identify prescribing patterns in the context of bacterial resistance to both antibiotics.
