    Actividad antifúngica del extracto de propóleo frente a Candida albicans de pacientes con candidiasis vulvovaginal en el año 2021

    The general objective of this research was to evaluate the antifungal activity of propolis extract against Candida albicans from patients with vulvovaginal candidiasis in 2021. The research used a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The population consisted of C. albicans strains isolated from patients with vulvovaginal candidiasis admitted to the Gynecology Service of a Private Clinic in Lima. A total of 34 strains were chosen (17 C. albicans strains from acute cases and 8 from recurrent cases) and were treated with propolis extract and fluconazole, with three repetitions, resulting in 102 experimental units. The antifungal susceptibility test was performed using the disk diffusion method with a single concentration of propolis extract and fluconazole as the positive control. Results: The propolis extract, like fluconazole, inhibited all C. albicans strains. However, the effect of fluconazole was significantly greater than that of the research product. Conclusion: The propolis extract does show antifungal activity against C. albicans.

    Alimentos exógenos que activan el factor nuclear eritroide 2 y el estrés oxidativo en pobladores del caserío San Juan, Íllimo-Lambayeque 2023

    A quality diet includes: consumption of fruits and vegetables, fiber, and minimal amounts of processed foods, sugar, saturated and trans fats, and salt. The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between exogenous foods that activate erythroid nuclear factor 2 and oxidative stress in residents of the San Juan hamlet, Íllimo-Lambayeque, 2023. Methodology: Non-experimental research design, correlational, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 132 residents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire with a Likert-type scale. Results: The results of the general hypothesis test showed a significance level of p = 0.019 (p < 0.05). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between exogenous foods that activate nuclear factor 2 and oxidative stress in residents of the San Juan hamlet, Íllimo-Lambayeque, 2023. erythroid 2 and oxidative stress.

    Características de prescripción y uso racional de medicamentos en infecciones respiratorias de pacientes atendidos en el Centro de Salud Juan Pablo II, año 2017

    This research aimed to determine the characteristics of prescriptions and the rational use of medications for respiratory infections in patients treated at the Juan Pablo II Health Center. Materials and methods: The study was descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, and quantitative. Prescriptions filled at the pharmacy service for patients diagnosed with respiratory infections in 2017 were verified. The population consisted of 1,360 medical prescriptions, from which a sample of 315 was selected. Results: The indicators showed the following: dose registration was 81.3%; frequency registration was 74.3%; duration of treatment registration was 29.5%; and the route of administration registration was 71.4%. 46.3% of the prescriptions were legible, while 53.7% were illegible. Prescriptions that jointly met all five aspects considered in the research had a 4.1% compliance rate. The highest number of medications prescribed per prescription was two medications (38.7%), followed by three medications (34.6%). Regarding antibiotics prescribed for respiratory infections, 86.3% (272) had one antibiotic, and 4.8% (15) had two. A 100% compliance rate was found for medications included in the National Essential Medicines List (PNUME) and for prescribing medications by their International Nonproprietary Name (INN). Conclusion: It was determined that there are deficiencies in prescription characteristics related to indications, legibility, and non-compliance with the Manual of Good Prescribing Practices and the study's Prescription Characteristics Protocol. However, it was found that the rational use of medications complied with the established standards at a 100% rate.

    Condiciones higiénico-sanitarias del manipulador de alimentos en el Mercado de Moshoqueque. Chiclayo 2023

    The present study, "HYGIENIC-SANITARY CONDITIONS OF FOOD HANDLERS IN THE MOSHOQUEQUE MARKET, CHICLAYO 2023," aimed to evaluate the hygienic-sanitary conditions of food handlers in the Moshoqueque Market, Chiclayo 2023. Methodology: The study followed a deductive type, observational and cross-sectional design, with a descriptive level. It included 150 meat vendors from the Moshoqueque Market in Chiclayo. Data were collected using a checklist during May and June 2023. The checklist consisted of 39 questions to verify the dimensions proposed in the study. Results: The findings showed that 56% of those evaluated demonstrated good hygienic-sanitary conditions. Additionally, 67.3% of the premises had good infrastructure, and the surrounding environment was healthy. About 58% of the premises demonstrated proper handling of utensils and food, while 55.3% of food handlers evidenced good hygienic conditions for food handling. Furthermore, 58% of those evaluated showed good solid waste management. Conclusion: In this study, 56% of the food handlers in the Moshoqueque Market were found to have good hygienic-sanitary conditions.

    Consumo de psicoestimulantes lícitos y somnolencia diurna en estudiantes de Farmacia y Bioquímica de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima 2023

    The study aimed to determine the relationship between the consumption of legal psychostimulants and daytime sleepiness in Pharmacy and Biochemistry students. A quantitative, basic-type, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design was employed, with a sample of 260 randomly selected students. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire, and hypotheses were tested using the Chi-square test and Cramer’s V. Findings revealed that 97% of participants consumed legal psychostimulants and 87.3% reported daytime sleepiness. However, no significant relationship was found between psychostimulant consumption and daytime sleepiness (p = 0.275). Weak correlations were observed between the consumption of energy drinks and stimulant drugs with sleepiness, but not with energy infusions. Additionally, a weak relationship was identified between the frequency of energy drink consumption and sleepiness, and a moderate one with the frequency of energy infusion consumption, while no significant relationship was established with stimulant drug use. In conclusion, no significant association was found between the consumption of legal psychostimulants and daytime sleepiness among the students.

    Efecto antibacteriano del extracto etanólico del cáliz de Physalis peruviana (Aguaymanto) frente cepas de referencia, Lima Metropolitana, 2023

    Antibiotic resistance is a major global concern, with Streptococcus mutans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and Staphylococcus aureus among the main pathogens involved. In this context, the objective of the present study was to determine the antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract of Physalis peruviana (cape gooseberry) calyx against reference strains in Lima, 2023. The research followed a hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, classified as applied research, using an experimental cross-sectional explanatory-level design. The study population consisted of Physalis peruviana fruits and the bacterial strains Streptococcus mutans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and Staphylococcus aureus. The sample included 10 kilograms of Physalis peruviana calyx and 15 Petri dishes, distributed into five plates per strain, with intentional non-probabilistic sampling. The phytochemical procedure consisted of a preliminary qualitative analysis, and the biological assay was performed using agar well diffusion. Results showed that the mean inhibition zones at concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75% were lower than those observed for the positive controls (chlorhexidine and ciprofloxacin). Moreover, statistically significant differences were found between the experimental groups and the DMSO control (p<0.000). In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of Physalis peruviana calyx exhibited antibacterial activity at all tested concentrations against the reference strains in Lima, 2023, except at the 25% concentration, which showed a mean inhibition zone of 7.2160 mm against Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175.

    Efecto antibacteriano del extracto metanólico de las hojas de Nasturtium officinale "berro" sobre cepas de Pseudomona aeruginosa, Escherichia coli y Staphylococcus aureus

    The objective of this study was to determine the antibacterial effect of the methanolic extract from the leaves of Nasturtium officinale (watercress) on strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Escherichia coli ATCC 10536, and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Methods: The Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method was used. To evaluate the antibacterial effect, 72 Mueller Hinton agar plates were used, divided into four groups for different concentrations. Results: The methanolic extract from the leaves of Nasturtium officinale (watercress) showed antibacterial activity against the Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 strain at various concentrations, unlike Escherichia coli ATCC 10536 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, which showed no antibacterial effect at any concentration. The greatest antibacterial effect was observed at the concentration of 100 mg/ml compared to the other concentrations. Conclusion: The antibacterial effect of the methanolic extract from the leaves of Nasturtium officinale (watercress) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 strains was demonstrated.

    Efecto antibacteriano del gel de extracto de Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill “anona” frente a cepas de colección americana de cultivos

    Research was conducted on the species Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill “anona,” cultivated in the department of Junín. Objective: To determine the antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract gel from the leaves of Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill “anona” against American type culture collection strains. Method: The antibacterial effect was evaluated on strains of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027, and Escherichia coli ATCC 8739 using the Kirby-Bauer method, which measures the diameter of inhibition zones. The strains were cultured on Mueller-Hinton agar plates, and discs impregnated with different concentrations of gels based on the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill “anona” at 0.50%, 0.25%, and 0.15% were applied. The inhibition zones were measured using a measuring instrument. Results: Antibacterial effects were observed at concentrations of 0.50%, 0.25%, and 0.15%, with the highest effect at 0.50% concentration against Staphylococcus aureus (46.67%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (36.67%), and Escherichia coli (30.67%). Conclusion: The gel based on the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill “anona” demonstrated antibacterial effects at a concentration of 0.50%.

    Mortality rates for Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Escherichia coli ATCC have increased worldwide, representing 40%, 30%, and 20% respectively. The objective of this study was: To analyze the in vitro antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract of Citrus reticulata (mandarin) peel on strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Escherichia coli ATCC, Lima 2023. Methodology: Hypothetical-deductive method, quantitative, experimental, cross-sectional, explanatory. The population consisted of 10 kilograms of Citrus reticulata fruit, and the sample was 1 kilogram of mandarin peel. A solubility test was performed to determine the appropriate solvent, and a phytochemical screening was conducted to identify secondary metabolites. The antibacterial effect was evaluated using the Kirby-Bauer method, with experimental groups at 25%, 50%, and 75% concentrations, compared to Levofloxacin 5 µg (positive control). Results: The mean diameters of inhibition zones at 25%, 50%, and 75% concentrations of the ethanolic extract of Citrus reticulata peel against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Escherichia coli ATCC were lower than those recorded for Levofloxacin 5 µg. Statistically significant differences were observed between the experimental groups (25%, 50%, and 75%) and the DMSO control.

    Evaluación de la calidad microbiológica y fisicoquímica del agua para consumo humano de los dispensadores de oficinas farmacéuticas del AA.HH. Mariscal Cáceres del distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho – Lima, 2019

    The present work entitled “Evaluation of the Microbiological and Physicochemical Quality of Drinking Water from Dispensers in Pharmaceutical Offices of the Human Settlement Mariscal Cáceres, District of San Juan de Lurigancho – Lima, 2019” aimed to evaluate the microbiological and physicochemical quality of drinking water from dispensers. The study was non-experimental, developed in a descriptive and cross-sectional manner, and the analysis consisted of 53 samples. The membrane filtration method was used for the microbiological analysis. The results showed that 15.1% presented values above 500 CFU/mL of heterotrophic bacteria, 24.5% exceeded the maximum permissible limits of total coliforms, 9.4% showed the presence of Escherichia coli, and 28.3% of dispensers were observed in poor condition, of which 20.8% did not meet proper hygiene standards. Meanwhile, 71.7% of dispensers were observed in good condition, but within these, 1.9% did not comply with the recommended hygiene. Regarding physicochemical parameters, two aspects did not meet the permissible limits: appearance and residual free chlorine. In conclusion, 49.1% (n = 26) did not comply, while 50.9% (n = 27) did comply with the microbiological and physicochemical quality of the water. The results were evaluated according to the Regulation on the Quality of Drinking Water for Human Consumption: D.S. No. 031-2010-SA / Directorate General of Environmental Health – Ministry of Health. Lima – Peru, 2011.

    Evaluación de los parámetros de control obligatorio de la calidad del agua para consumo humano en los reservorios del centro poblado rural Río Seco – Cieneguilla, marzo–octubre, 2019

    The study of water quality has been evaluated by many national and international studies, as it is essential and vital for water intended for human consumption to have the necessary characteristics to ensure its risk-free consumption. The WHO, through its guidelines for drinking water quality, emphasizes prevention and sustainable access to drinking water for economic development. Locally, the General Directorate of Environmental Health (DIGESA) aligns with this, especially with its regulatory framework DS-031-2010-SA. The objective of this study was to evaluate the mandatory control parameters for the quality of water for human consumption in the reservoirs of the Rio Seco – Cieneguilla rural town center, from March to October 2019. The methodology used was a descriptive, cross-sectional, and non-experimental study with quantitative microbiological and physical analysis based on current regulations. The population consisted of 46 properties, and quality was evaluated according to the following parameters: Determination of total coliforms and Escherichia coli, and determination of physical parameters (pH, residual chlorine, turbidity, and color). An evaluation through surveys showed that 67.4% of properties did not continuously clean their reservoir and 28.3% did not purify the water they consumed. This improved after training was provided, with a predisposition to improve sanitary measures, resulting in 70% purifying their water and 80% continuously cleaning their reservoirs. Results: 97.8% (45 samples) tested positive for total coliforms, and 34.8% (16 samples) tested positive for Escherichia coli. These results were compared with the permissible parameters according to current drinking water quality regulations. Conclusion: The water consumed by the population does not comply with the mandatory microbiological parameters of the DS N° 031-2010 SA, DIGESA regulation.

    Factores de riesgo asociados para la no adherencia al tratamiento en los pacientes diagnosticados con infecciones de transmisión sexual en el Centro de Salud Chancas de Andahuaylas– Santa Anita, 2023

    The objective was to determine the relationship between risk factors and non-adherence to treatment in patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections at the Chancas de Andahuaylas Health Center - Santa Anita, 2023. Methodology: Type of basic research, hypothetical method- deductive, quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross-sectional; descriptive level; The sample was 171 patients diagnosed with STI. The technique used was the survey and the instrument was the questionnaire, the reliability of the instrument demonstrated reliability where our Cronbach's Alpha test indicated 0.734, our instrument was acceptable and served to collect data that were analyzed and tested with the Chi-Square test. Results: The majority of the sample was made up of women (91.8%), aged between 24 and 29 years (44.4%). The predominant educational level was secondary (61.4%) and the majority were single (53.2%), 38% had lower abdominal pain syndrome, 73.7% had psychosocial characteristics, 38% had no adhere to the treatment and 62.0% adhere to the treatment (p<0.005). Conclusion: If there is a relationship between risk factors such as age, educational level and psychosocial characteristics with non adherence to treatment in the patients diagnosed with STIs.

    Identificación de errores de prescripción en esquemas de quimioterapia de pacientes oncológicos de la Clínica Internacional, enero a diciembre de 2020

    The objective was to identify prescription errors in chemotherapy regimens for oncology patients at the Clínica Internacional from January to December 2020. The methodology had a quantitative approach, applied type, descriptive level, and non-experimental design. The data collection technique was observation, and the instrument used was a data collection sheet applied to 371 chemotherapy regimens. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics presented in tables and figures. Conclusion: A total of 990 prescription errors were identified in 371 chemotherapy regimens for oncology patients treated at the Clínica Internacional during the period from January to December 2020. Furthermore, it was found that the highest proportion of prescription errors per chemotherapy regimen was 3 errors per regimen, representing 22%.

    El rol del químico farmacéutico y su contribución en los pacientes hospitalizados que reciben nutrición parenteral en Lima Metropolitana, 2023

    The present research followed a hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional cut, and correlational level. A questionnaire with 27 closed questions and Likert-type scale responses was applied to 84 Pharmaceutical Chemists working in the parenteral nutrition area of health institutions in Metropolitan Lima. In the structure of the questions, the variable “Role of the Pharmaceutical Chemist” considered aspects such as validation of the parenteral nutrition formulation, analysis and interpretation of metabolic complications and electrolyte abnormalities, and processes of preparation of parenteral nutrition. In addition, the variable “Contribution” considered aspects such as improvement of clinical outcomes, economic results, safe practices and monitoring, nutritional therapeutic monitoring, and education, training, and research. Result: The nonparametric Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient obtained a value of +0.358, indicating that the relationship between the role of the Pharmaceutical Chemist and their contribution to hospitalized patients receiving parenteral nutrition is direct and of low intensity. Conclusion: The role of the Pharmaceutical Chemist is related to their contribution to hospitalized patients receiving parenteral nutrition in Metropolitan Lima, 2023, with a direct but low-intensity relationship.

    Uso racional de las benzodiacepinas en pacientes que acuden a la farmacia de la Clínica San Martín en el distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho. Lima 2023

    The objective of this research was to determine the rational use of benzodiazepines in patients who attend the pharmacy of Clínica San Martín in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho. Methodology: A deductive study was conducted with a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental cross-sectional design, and descriptive level. A validated questionnaire was used, and its reliability was confirmed through Cronbach’s Alpha, obtaining a value of 0.847, which made the instrument reliable. The sample consisted of 122 patients. Results: Regarding the rational use of benzodiazepines, 55.7% sometimes made rational use of these medications, 29.5% always, and 14.8% never. About 50% reported that they were sometimes informed about possible interactions between benzodiazepines and other drugs. Alprazolam was the most consumed benzodiazepine (41%), followed by clonazepam (36.1%). Additionally, 58.2% indicated that they sometimes used an expired prescription, and 75.4% reported that the medication sometimes had no effect, leading them to double the indicated dose. Conclusion: It was concluded that among the surveyed patients attending the pharmacy of the clinic, 29.5% made rational use of benzodiazepines; however, it is concerning that 70.5% of this population made irrational use of these medications.

    Validación del ensayo microbiológico de una solución de Amonio Cuaternario al 0,25% para limpieza de superficies, basado en la Farmacopea Americana vigente. Lima 2023

    This study aimed to validate the analytical technique of microbial count by dilution–neutralization of 0.25% quaternary ammonium, applying the pour plate method for test microorganism recovery. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS and Minitab software. Results showed microbial counts below 100 CFU for Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Candida albicans ATCC 10231, and Aspergillus brasiliensis ATCC 16404. The suitability test successfully recovered all test microorganisms at the 10⁻² dilution, with growth and identification of specific microorganisms. Validation of the neutralization method demonstrated effective performance of the neutralizer at the 10⁻² dilution, along with the absence of toxicity. Accuracy of recovery percentages was within the 90% confidence interval, while assay precision remained <15% coefficient of variation. The neutralizers proved specific in inhibiting the antimicrobial properties of quaternary ammonium. The detection limit showed recovery of P. aeruginosa > 11 CFU and S. aureus > 17 CFU, while robustness analysis revealed no significant variability in microbial counts across different incubation times. In conclusion, the dilution–neutralization method using 0.5% soybean lecithin and 4% polysorbate 80 allowed effective recovery of test microorganisms at the 10⁻² dilution.
