It is concluded that the physical exercise program was effective in improving the static and dynamic balance of older adults at the Senior Center in Canto Grande – San Juan de Lurigancho.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of a program of therapeutic exercises and manual therapy on pain and functionality in post-covid 19 patients with low back pain at the Loreto regional hospital, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-28) Tuesta Arellano, Wendy Vanessa; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaCOVID-19 is a worldwide infectious disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), affecting the musculoskeletal system, including the muscles and bones of the back, causing lumbalgia, which is a leading cause of physical disability. This can lead to functional limitations in daily activities, requiring physiotherapeutic attention tailored to each patient's needs following an evaluation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of an exercise and manual therapy program for pain and functionality.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of a quadratus lumborum intervention program in pain, disability and muscle contracture in chronic low back pain and lumbosciatica due to herniation of the nucleus pulposus at the lumbar level in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Section of the Central Hospital of the Air Force of Peru, 2013-2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-14) Casas Villa, Máximo Julio; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaAccording to the World Health Organization, low back pain is the leading cause of medical consultations worldwide, with 90% of acute cases resolving within the first three months, and those without resolution developing into chronic pain. Chronic low back pain is a public health problem, causing disability, absenteeism, and increased use of healthcare services. Chronic low back pain due to a herniated disc is often accompanied by myofascial trigger points, with the most commonly affected muscle being the quadratus lumborum, whose referred pain resembles sciatica. However, most healthcare professionals focus more on auxiliary exam findings, which often show herniated discs, leading to long, expensive treatments with unsatisfactory results, many ending in surgery. This project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of interventions targeting the quadratus lumborum in pain, disability, and muscle contracture.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of myofascial release on pain and range of motion in patients with cervicalgia in a hospital in the city of Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-30) Camacho Quispe, Virginia Consuelo; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaCervical pain has become a common problem worldwide, and its prevalence has increased significantly. Studies state that fascia is composed of loose fibrous tissue and dense fibrous tissue, forming a three-dimensional network connected to all body structures involved in controlling and maintaining effective posture. Myofascial release techniques are used to improve the resistance of the fascial system, and these techniques have significantly increased in popularity and are increasingly accepted and implemented in the daily clinical work of physiotherapists.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of myofascial release on pain intensity, lumbar spine flexibility and quality of life in patients with chronic lumbalgia at a hospital in Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-01) Lume Acharte, Bernardino Amador; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaLow back pain significantly affects quality of life and function, being the most common and potentially disabling in 60% of cases, disrupting the work life of more than half of the population. There are many treatment approaches in physiotherapy commonly applied, but the use of manual therapy, which includes myofascial release techniques (applying mild load and stretching), allows for the mobilization of the muscle complex, returning it to its optimal length, relieving pain, and improving patient functionality. Therefore, it is necessary to apply this technique to optimize treatments in the Rehabilitation service of a hospital.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of myofascialrelease on pain intensity, functional capacity, and flexibility in patients with low back pain from a hospital in Chimbote, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-10-24) Barreto Morillos, Miluska Milagro; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaThe intense pain between the lower edge of the last ribs and the gluteal fold is referred to as lumbar pain. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that 70% of adults experience a lumbar pain episode during their lifetime. It is relevant to mention that chronic lumbar pain is associated with kinesiophobia and disability in performing daily life activities. Therefore, lumbar pain is the reason why patients live with a disability for many years. In Spain, various physiotherapeutic interventions are used, with myofascial release as an alternative to treat this pain. Objectives: The general objective is to determine the level of effectiveness of myofascial release on pain intensity, functional capacity, and flexibility in patients with lumbar pain. Material and Method: The experimental design with a quasi-experimental sub-design with pre- and post-test with a control group will be used. Pain intensity will be measured using the visual analog scale, functional capacity will be measured using the Oswestry Disability Index, and flexibility will be measured using the finger-to-floor test.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of neural mobilization on pain, functional capacity and quality of life in patients with chronic low back pain in a Lima hospital, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-18) Utrilla de la Cruz, Jorge Luis Adalberto; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaLow back pain is a musculoskeletal syndrome with high global prevalence, with 80% of the population experiencing it or expected to experience it, and 15% developing a chronic condition with no clear cause, i.e., nonspecific. This leads to a high disability rate that affects the quality of life. Physical therapy treatment has proven effective in improving symptoms, mainly due to the inclusion of active movement and mobilizations. Manual therapy includes practical techniques aimed at patient recovery, including neural mobilization, which has benefits for people with chronic musculoskeletal conditions.Ítem Acceso abierto Effetiveness of Myofacial reléase in Pain intensity, Functional Capacity and joint rango in patients with painful Shoulder síndrome in a hospital in chimbote 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-26) Morales Graus, Fabiola Roxana; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaThe third most common reason for musculoskeletal pain consultation, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is the painful shoulder syndrome, with an estimated prevalence of 16-26% and an incidence of 1.47%. The shoulder joint is mobile, and muscle tension increases symptoms, affecting the patient’s functionality and leading to the adoption of incorrect postures that can result in disability. This condition involves inflammation, pain, and limited movement, affecting daily activities. Physiotherapeutic treatment focuses on reducing pain, restoring mobility, improving functionality, reducing myofascial trigger points, and restoring function and quality of life. It is concluded that manual therapy is considered an important tool in physiotherapeutic treatment. Myofascial release aims to mobilize the connective tissue fascia that surrounds, connects, and supports muscles to improve functional capacity due to myofascial restrictions. The general objective of this study is to identify the level of effectiveness of myofascial release in pain intensity, functional capacity, and joint range in patients with painful shoulder syndrome. Methodology: This is a quasi-experimental study evaluated through a pretest and posttest. This research design will verify the effect of the independent variable on the changes observed in the dependent variable. The instruments used include the Disability Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) questionnaire, commonly used in clinical trials and validated for reliability, the visual analog scale, which is practical and safe, and the goniometer, which is used in studies for its accuracy.Ítem Acceso abierto Joint ranges, grip strength and functional capacity in patients with painful shoulder syndrome at the Daniel Alcides Carrion Regional Hospital - Pasco 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-04) Lores Marcos, Diana Carolina; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaThe objective was to determine the relationship between joint ranges, grip strength, and functional capacity in patients with painful shoulder syndrome. The method used will be hypothetical-deductive, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. An evaluation form was used, consisting of four parts: sociodemographic data, joint range evaluation, grip strength, and functional capacity. A pilot test was conducted with 12 patients, and the evaluation form was assessed for reliability by expert judgment.Ítem Acceso abierto Low back pain and work stress of care staff in the emergency area of the Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes Hospital in Paita, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-15) Baca Valdiviezo, Ariadna Sue Anne; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaAccording to the World Health Organization, lower back pain has been the leading cause of disability worldwide for many years. It is estimated that 80% of people will experience lower back pain at some point in their lives. Chronic pain is defined as pain lasting longer than three months due to an injury. In modern times, work systems change or intensify, changing the workplace, daily schedules to complex shifts, as is the case with healthcare personnel. Similarly, the intensification of activities affects people's mental and emotional health, maximizing problems such as stress, fear, anxiety, or depression worldwide. Psychosocial factors have been analyzed for their influence on musculoskeletal disorders, with combined exposure to physical and psychosocial factors having more severe effects on workers' health than exposure to a single factor. Similarly, once an injury occurs, certain psychosocial factors are important in the transition from acute to chronic pain.Ítem Acceso abierto Lumbar pain and motor control in the staff of the Nueva América Transport Company S.A., Carabayllo, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-23) Medina Perez, Gabriela Patricia; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaLow back pain is defined as a set of signs and symptoms or a musculoskeletal syndrome, with the primary symptom being localized pain in the lower back or lumbar area. This area is situated between the lower rib cage, the sacral region, and occasionally involves the gluteal region. The pain in the lumbar area can present in two forms: acute pain, which is caused by traumatic injury or moderate strain, and chronic pain, which lasts for more than three months. The difference between acute and chronic low back pain is that the acute form involves cognitive, emotional, and social factors influencing the pain. To evaluate the intensity of low back pain, the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), described by Scott and Huskinsson in 1976, is used. This scale presents pain intensity levels, is easy to use, and has been proven to be reproducible and sensitive, allowing patients to express their pain level with a score.Ítem Acceso abierto Myofascial mobilization induced by Movement and foam roller in the intensity of the Lumbar pain and flexibility in football players with Chronic low back pain from the minor league Breña, Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-04-16) Alarcón Chaparro, Luz Sofía; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaFootball is the most popular sport worldwide and nationally, and it has a very high percentage of injuries, with low back pain being the fourth most common disorder. Myofascial mobilization induced by movement is a method based on fascial connectivity, using exercises designed around anatomical points and the distribution, arrangement, and function of myofascial chains to optimize the stretching capacity of myofascial tissue in the entire fascio-muscular-joint system. This helps eliminate mechanical components that trigger injury factors affecting performance and functionality. On the other hand, the foam roller is widely used by athletes of all levels; however, current research shows that although it reduces muscle stiffness and increases the range of motion, it should be combined with dynamic stretching and active warm-up for optimal recovery and long-term effects.
