The research methodology was quantitative in approach, having a non-experimental design, with a correlational level. The population was the hospital's nursing staff of 130 people with a census-sample. The results reveal that there is no significant correlation between work absenteeism and psychosocial factors (p=0.811, Rho=0.21), however, a correlation was found between work absenteeism and behavioral factors (p=0.001; Rho=- 0.27) and social factors (p=0.007; Rho=0.23). Therefore, it is concluded that psychosocial factors are not related to work absenteeism in nursing professionals from an institute in Lima, although the dimensions "behavioral factors" and "social factors" did show a significant relationship with work absenteeism.
