Lima, 2022.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-13) Orellana Torres, Mariela; Vilchez Bellido, DinaThe objective of this study was to compare the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for infection control in dental assistants before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: An observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study was conducted, with a sample of 101 dental assistants. A previously validated online questionnaire with 56 questions was applied. Results: It was found that before the pandemic, 83.2% of dental assistants used protective equipment, while 16.8% did not. On the other hand, during the pandemic, 100% of dental assistants used protective equipment, with the highest percentage corresponding to females (94.1%) and the age group of 41 to 60 years (48.5%). It was observed that, of the total dental assistants who used PPE before the pandemic, 5% worked in the public sector and 78.2% in the private sector. Finally, among the total dental assistants who used PPE before the pandemic, 64.3% worked in general dentistry, followed by 6.9% in aesthetic dentistry. Conclusion: It was evident that during the pandemic, the use of personal protective equipment increased among older dental assistants, females, and those in the private sector, with a higher prevalence in general dentistry.Ítem Acceso abierto Construction and validation of an instrument on oral hygiene measures and care in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic in Peru 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-23) Velasquez Quezada, Alexander Zocimo; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineObjective: The objective of this research was to establish the content validity of an instrument to assess the level of knowledge about oral hygiene measures and care in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru in 2021, among students of the Monseñor Fidel Olivas Escudero State School, secondary level, aged 12 to 17 years. Material and Methods: The study used a deductive approach, quantitative focus, and psychometric validation of a measurement instrument, with an observational design and longitudinal scope. The sample focused on 70 secondary students, both female and male, aged 12 to 17, who were administered a questionnaire virtually via a Google Forms survey. The instrument was validated through expert judgment before application, and after 20 days, the instrument was reapplied. Results: The instrument showed content validity with an approval category of 0.8-0.92 and construct validity with a bifactorial model. It also demonstrated internal consistency with strong reliability (Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.901 and 0.900 for the instruments "Oral Hygiene Measures" and "Oral Hygiene Care," respectively) and strong stability (intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.964, statistically significant with p = 0.000). Conclusion: The instrument has content validity, reliability, construct validity, and stability for assessing the level of knowledge about oral hygiene measures and care in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru in 2021.Ítem Acceso abierto Factors that affect the satisfaction and continuity of prosthetic treatment from the patient's perspective during the Covid-19 pandemic.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-21) Nuñez Muñoz, Juan Manuel; Morante Maturana, Sara AngelicaObjective: To determine the factors that affect the satisfaction and continuity of prosthetic treatment from the patient's perspective during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and Methods: An observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study was conducted. The sample consisted of 101 patients, 52.5% (n=53) female and 47.5% (n=48) male, with an average age of 54.11 ± 8.5 years. A questionnaire with eleven questions measuring satisfaction was designed, including factors related to the prosthesis and care. The questionnaire was validated by expert judgment, and reliability was measured using the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. Data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical package (version 26), with a significance level of 5%. Results: A statistically significant relationship was found between satisfaction with prosthetic treatment and the care received during the pandemic, whether in-person or through telemonitoring, as well as with the optimal use of internet communication and virtual platforms (Pearson's Chi-square test; p<0.05). Conclusion: Factors related to care and those related to the prosthesis affect the satisfaction with prosthetic treatment.Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge about biosafety in times of the Covid-19 pandemic of the dentist graduated from a Private University - Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-08-16) Atalaya Reyna, Jhuliza Sabina; Bouroncle Sacín, Jorge EnriqueThe main objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge that graduates of the Universidad Norbert Wiener had about biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a quantitative applied study with an observational design. The sample (n=264) was selected randomly, considering graduates of the Universidad Norbert Wiener. A questionnaire, validated by expert judgment and pre-tested to ensure its reliability, was applied to the participants. The questionnaire consisted of 29 items on conceptual knowledge about biosecurity for dentists during the COVID-19 pandemic, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hand washing, and management and disposal of dental waste. The level of knowledge was categorized as high, medium, or low, depending on the final score obtained: ≥ 21, 11-20, or ≤ 10 points, respectively. The results were presented through frequency tables and graphs, with scales ranging between 35%, 48%, and mostly 52%. Finally, the result of the hypothesis test showed an approximate significance of 0%, which determined that the hypothesis was null, concluding that more than 52% of dental graduates were knowledgeable about biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge of biosafety standards in times of a covid-19 pandemic in VIII and IX students academic cycle of the professional academic school of dentistry of the Norbert Wiener University, Lima. 2020.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-27) Lavado Miramira, Gianella Luisa; Araujo Farje, Jessica JazminThe purpose of this research was to determine the level of knowledge about biosecurity regulations during the COVID-19 pandemic among students in the VIII and IX academic cycles of the Professional School of Dentistry at Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima, 2020. The study was observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective. The study population consisted of 129 students enrolled in the VIII and IX cycles, with 92 students participating after applying the inclusion criteria. A questionnaire was applied based on three dimensions: principles of universality, knowledge about the use of protective barriers, and waste disposal, using the Google Forms virtual platform. The results showed that the majority of students had a regular level of knowledge, with 64.1%. Regarding the academic cycle, the regular level was the most frequent (64.1%) for both the VIII cycle (65.1%) and the IX cycle (63.3%). Knowledge distribution by gender also showed the regular level as the most frequent, with 68.4% for males and 63.0% for females. The average knowledge scores for the dimensions were 7.2±2.6 for Universality, 4.5±0.7 for protective barriers, and 3.5±1.1 for waste disposal. The study concluded that there is a regular level of knowledge about biosecurity regulations during the COVID-19 pandemic among students in the VIII and IX cycles.Ítem Acceso abierto Validation of an instrument to measure the perception of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in pediatric dentistry students, Lima 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-13) Vizcarra Asmat, Vanessa del Pilar; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineThe aim of this study was to validate an instrument to measure the perception of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pediatric Dentistry students at the Norbert Wiener University, Lima 2021.
