Critical Review: Effectiveness of Natural Galactogogues in Increasing Breast Milk Production
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-09) Mayta Choque, Falon Herminia; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea Lisbet
The following research is based on the need to scientifically demonstrate the effectiveness of natural galactogogues popularly used to increase breast milk production. The clinical question was: Is the consumption of natural galactogogues (foods, culinary preparations, infusions, extracts and natural supplements) effective in increasing breast milk secretion in lactating women? We worked with the Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) method. The information was collected in: DOAJ, Science Direct, Pubmed, finding 80 articles, of which 14 were selected, these articles were evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, subsequently selecting the double-blind Randomized Clinical Trial with the title from: Effect of fenugreek, ginger and turmeric supplementation on breast milk volume and nutrient content in breastfeeding mothers: A double-blind randomized controlled trial, presenting a level of evidence 1A and a Grade of STRONG Recommendation, according to the professional criteria of the researcher. In the critical comment it was concluded that the consumption of the aforementioned supplement increases breast milk production after two weeks without adverse effects.

Critical review: protective effect of breast milk for the prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis in low weight and/or premature babies under 37 weeks of gestation
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-03-09) Rivas Aguilera, Carmen Lucero; Bohórquez Medina, Sofia Lorena
The research aimed to identify the protective effect of breast milk in preventing necrotizing enterocolitis in low-birth-weight and/or preterm infants under 37 weeks of gestation. The clinical question was: Does breast milk have a protective effect in preventing necrotizing enterocolitis in both male and female infants with low birth weight and/or preterm birth under 37 weeks of gestation? Evidence-Based Nutrition (EBN) methodology was used. Information was gathered from PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO, REDALYC, and SCIENCE DIRECT, where 29 articles were found, and 10 were selected. These articles were evaluated using the CASPe critical reading tool. Finally, the meta-analysis titled "Impact of Human Milk on Necrotizing Enterocolitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" was selected, which has A1-level evidence and a strong recommendation grade. The critical review concluded that breast milk has a protective effect in preventing the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis in preterm and/or low-birth-weight infants under 37 weeks of gestation.

Critical review: protective effect of breast milk in preterm infants”
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-09-03) Quispe Camino, Nery Maritza; Dávila Córdova, Jennifer Estefania
The benefits of breast milk on the health of premature newborns is widely known and the administration of human milk to infants as an ideal food over any other is of great clinical and social relevance. The protective effect against necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) has been very well studied, but it was necessary to compare different doses of breast milk as a protective effect. The present secondary research titled as a critical review: Protective effect of breast milk in premature newborns, aimed to evaluate the protective effect of breast milk in premature newborns. The clinical question was: What is the protective effect of breast milk in premature newborns? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, COCHRANE, finding 128 articles, 25 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the meta-analysis titled Protective effects of different doses of human milk on neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis . Which has a level of evidence A II and a strong Degree of Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that breast milk exerts a protective effect against necrotizing enterocolitis at any dose, even more so if it is exclusive breast milk.

Effectiveness of an educational intervention on breastfeeding during the prenatal stage to extend breastfeeding duration
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-19) Vasquez Valverde, Sayda Isabel; Valles Rios, Katty Gloria; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa María
OBJECTIVE: Systematize the effectiveness of an educational intervention on breastfeeding in the prenatal stage to prolong breastfeeding times. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective and observational systematic review [SR], in a sample of 10 scientific articles published and indexed in scientific databases, no older than ten years and that responded to articles published internationally and nationally, in Spanish. Spanish. RESULTS: In the final selection we worked with 10 articles, finding that 60% (06) correspond to Cuba, while 20% (02) are Spain and 10% (2) are Brazil and Costa Rica respectively. Having largely studied the quasi-experimental with 40% (4) and experimental also with 40% (4), we found 10% (1) case and control and 10% (1) systematic review. Where the total of articles reviewed 100%(10) ensure that educational intervention in the prenatal stage on breastfeeding prolongs breastfeeding times. CONCLUSIONS: According to the evidence reviewed, it is concluded that 10/10 studies conclude that educational intervention in the prenatal stage on breastfeeding in mothers prolongs breastfeeding times.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-14) Lumbre Quesquen, Felicita; Estrada Cuba, Deysi Celia; Matta Solis, Hernán Hugo
Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of donor breast milk compared to formula for the growth of premature or low birth weight babies. Material and Method: The research design was a systematic review. The sample was made up of 10 articles that met the proposed inclusion and exclusion criteria. The quality of evidence and strength of recommendation of the articles used the GRADE system. Results: Regarding the research design, 20% (2/10) were systematic reviews, 40% (4/10) were clinical trials and 40% (4/10) were retrospective cohort. Regarding origin, 70% (7/10) are from the United States, 10% (1/10) from Korea, 10% (1/10) from Brazil and 10% (1/10) from Canada. . Regarding the quality of the evidence, 60% (6/10) are high and 40% (4/10) are moderate. Regarding the evidence found, 70% (7/10) found greater effectiveness of the formula compared to human donor milk for the growth of premature babies or low birth weight, but there was a risk of presenting necrotizing enterocolitis. 10% (1/10) found no significant differences between human donor milk and formula to improve the growth of premature babies. 20% compared human donor milk with breast milk, finding no significant differences in terms of the growth of the premature baby. Conclusions: there is greater effectiveness of the formula compared to human donor milk for the growth of premature babies or low birth weight, however there was a risk of presenting necrotizing enterocolitis.
