Ítem Acceso abierto Aerobic capacity and peripheral muscle strength in adults from the Nauticus gym, Arequipa, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-05-27) Perez Chacon, Luz Delia; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherSedentarism and physical inactivity represent a current public health problem, as one in every four adults of working age does not engage in physical activity, leading to overweight and obesity and increasing the trend of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and others. In this context, it is crucial to understand aerobic capacity, as it reflects the cardiovascular health of an individual. Aerobic capacity is the ability of the body to function efficiently, perform sustained activities with minimal effort, without fatigue, and with rapid recovery. Aerobic exercises induce physiological changes where heart rate reflects the intensity of effort the heart must exert during exercise to meet the body's increased demands. With more training, the tolerance to effort and peripheral muscle strength increase, and their assessment predicts the level of cardiometabolic risk. This is also a fundamental determinant for setting permissible limits for activities such as pushing, pulling, and manual load handling, with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal disorders.Ítem Acceso abierto Aerobic capacity in adults of the church assemblies of god of Peru the good shepherd, Chimbote 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-05) Montañez Bazán, Angel Junior; Santos Lucio, Chero PisfilMethodology: The study followed a hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, a non-experimental design, and a descriptive cross-sectional model. The population was 100 adults, with a sample of 81 adults. An instrument called "Sit and Stand for 1 minute" (STST), which measures aerobic capacity, was used. The instrument has a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of (0.80 - 0.98). RESULTS: It was found that the aerobic capacity of the majority of participants was 70.4%, classified as "Very Poor", 28.4% as "Poor", and 1.2% as "Fair". Regarding sociodemographic data, the sample had an average age of 50.06 years with a standard deviation of 10.34 years. In terms of height, the average was 1.62 meters with a standard deviation of 0.08 meters, and for weight, the average was 66.58 kilograms with a standard deviation of 11.31 kg. CONCLUSION: It was concluded that the adults from the Assemblies of God Church of Peru El Buen Pastor are classified as having very poor aerobic capacity with 70.4%.Publicación Acceso abierto Aporte de oxígeno y lesión renal aguda en pacientes adultos sometidos a cirugía cardiaca con circulación extracorpórea de un hospital de Lima 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-06-08) Huayta Guevara, Miriam Adela; Benavente Sanchez, Yennys KatiuscaObjetivo: “Determinar la relación que existe entre el aporte de oxígeno y la lesión renal aguda en pacientes adultos sometidos a cirugía cardíaca con circulación extracorpórea de un hospital de Lima 2025”. According to this review, it can be concluded that Intensive Care Unit specialists should reinforce their knowledge on the proper and initial practice of HFNC before requiring forced intubation, since the positive pressure system generated probably reduces the level of infection contagion of patients in the ICU and mortality.Ítem Acceso abierto The effectiveness of the prone position to improve oxygenation and decrease mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-02) Torpoco Acevedo, Rocio Maria; Cardenas Espinoza, Heydi Kuvenka; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethObjective: To systematically analyze the available evidence from studies on the effectiveness of the prone position to improve oxygenation and reduce mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome. Materials and methods: The systematic review of the 10 scientific articles found on the effectiveness of the prone position to improve oxygenation and reduce mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome was conducted in the following databases: Epistemonikos, Cochrane, Lilacs, Scielo, Medline, Pubmed. All were analyzed according to the GRADE scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% (10) correspond to the methodological design of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. All 10 systematically reviewed articles provide evidence of the effectiveness of the prone position to improve oxygenation and reduce mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome. Conclusions: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% (10) provide evidence of the effectiveness of the prone position to improve oxygenation and reduce mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome. This is because it improves oxygenation in patients with respiratory distress syndrome in adults, and in patients with more severe disease, it also showed a significant trend toward reducing mortality.Ítem Acceso abierto Effects of a yoga program on aerobic capacity in older adults at the Francisco Pizarro Polyclinic, Es Salud, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-14) Rojas Almerco, Gina Andrea; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe elderly population is growing rapidly both in our country and globally. However, the number of healthy life years in this age group is decreasing. After age 60, a significant number of older adults have non-communicable chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, decreased aerobic capacity, loss of flexibility, reduced muscle strength, and even sarcopenia. Physical exercise is the only tool capable of counteracting the effects or onset of these conditions. However, the reality is that little to no physical exercise is performed. Yoga, through slow, mindful movements and breathing techniques, provides an opportunity to work on both physical and mental health. As a therapeutic form of exercise, it can improve the aerobic or cardiorespiratory capacity of older adults. This study aims to assess changes in aerobic capacity after a yoga intervention using the 6-minute walk test as a tool.Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of apneic oxygenation during oxygen desaturation in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-02-17) Geldres Alva, Fabiola Carolina; Maldonado Villacorta, Luz Marina; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleMaterial and Methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, subjected to critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence of the articles published in the following databases: Sciencedirect, PubMed, Epistemonikos, Scielo, Researchgate. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 50% (n= 5/10) are meta-analyses, 20% (n= 2/10) are a systematic review, 20% (n= 2/10) are randomized controlled trials and 10% (n= 1/10) are cohort studies and come from the countries of Australia (30%), followed by the United States (30%), Canada (20%), Brazil (10%) and Italy (10%). Results: 80% (n=8/10) indicate that apneic oxygenation is effective in reducing oxygen desaturation in patients during endotracheal intubation. 20% (n=2/10) indicate that apneic oxygenation is not effective in reducing oxygen desaturation in patients during endotracheal intubation. Conclusion: apneic oxygenation is effective in reducing oxygen desaturation in patients during endotracheal intubationÍtem Acceso abierto Efficacy of the prone position used in the patient with acute respiratory distress syndrome in the intensive care unit(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Choque Madueño, Dreysi Eliyana; Campos Taquire, Giovanna Victoria; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleObjective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the prone position used in patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in the Intensive Care Unit.
