Comparación del recuento de leucocitos residuales en hemocomponentes evaluados en analizador hematológico y procedimiento manual en el Banco de Sangre del Hospital Regional de Ica, año 2024", tiene como objetivo evaluar la diferencia en los recuentos de leucocitos residuales obtenidos mediante un analizador hematológico y un método manual. La investigación es pertinente ya que la precisión en estos recuentos es crucial para minimizar el riesgo de reacciones adversas en pacientes transfundidos. Se plantea una metodología de diseño transversal analítico, trabajando con una población de hemocomponentes sanguíneos que cumplen criterios específicos de inclusión. Se establecerán objetivos claros tanto generales como específicos, y se utilizarán métodos estadísticos robustos para analizar los datos. La justificación del estudio abarca aspectos teóricos, metodológicos y prácticos, enfatizando la necesidad de validar técnicas de recuento de leucocitos para garantizar la seguridad en transfusiones. Este trabajo aspira a contribuir a optimizar los procesos en bancos de sangre, asegurar la máxima seguridad en la transfusión y mejorar la calidad del servicio ofrecido a los pacientes.

Comparative study of automated leukocyte differential count and reference method in the hematology laboratory of the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, 2021

The microscopic evaluation of a peripheral blood smear is a diagnostic tool in the hematology laboratory. Automated analyzers mark results for a significant proportion of samples and require confirmation through smear review. Therefore, each clinical laboratory needs to verify the reliability of the automated white blood cell differential count (WBC DC) and compare it with the reference method. Objective: To determine if there is a significant difference between the automated white blood cell differential count and the reference method in the Hematology Laboratory of the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, 2021. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study will be conducted at the Hematology Laboratory from October to December 2021. Data will be analyzed using Excel templates, and the following will be performed: (1) For determining the association between two variables with a normal distribution, Pearson correlation will be used, while Spearman’s correlation will be applied if the data does not follow a normal distribution. (2) To compare methods, the standard error of proportion with 95% confidence intervals will be calculated for each cell type. (3) For comparing paired means, statistical significance will be determined using a p-value < 0.05 (Student’s t-test). (4) For analyzing bias (systematic error), the regression equation will be considered.

Leukocyte count by the sedimentation method and its relationship with the Neubauer chamber method in urine collected in the clinical laboratory of the Perinatal Maternal Institute (INMP) of Lima, 2017

Urine analysis is the first and most important laboratory test in evaluating a patient with suspected kidney disease, providing valuable data. Examination of urinary sediment is especially useful for diagnosing urinary tract infections, particularly when detecting asymptomatic bacteriuria, and can also be done using the Neubauer chamber for leukocyte counts. Objective: To determine the relationship between leukocyte counts obtained by the sedimentation method and the Neubauer chamber method in urine samples collected at the Instituto Materno Perinatal (INMP) Clinical Laboratory in Lima in 2017. Materials and Methods: A selection of 68 urine samples from pregnant women was made. This is a quantitative, correlational, and prospective study, using the Pearson correlation test to analyze the relationship between leukocyte counts from sediment and the Neubauer chamber method. Results: A correlation value of 0.730 was found between the sedimentation method and the Neubauer chamber method. The Neubauer chamber achieved 100% sensitivity, 32.6% specificity, 46.3% positive predictive value, 100% negative predictive value, and 57% diagnostic certainty, with positive and negative likelihood ratios of 1.48 and 0, respectively. Conclusion: A good correlation was found between the sedimentation method and the Neubauer chamber method for identifying leukocytes, demonstrating that despite a good correlation, the Neubauer chamber does not apply as a diagnostic test.

Relationship of the neutrophil index - lymphocytes and serum ferritin levels in covid19 positive patients attended at the semedic medical center, cerca de lima, may 2020 - february 2021

Objective: To determine the relationship between the neutrophil-lymphocyte index and serum ferritin levels in COVID-19 positive patients attended at the SEMEDIC medical center, from May 2020 to February 2021. Materials and methods: A descriptive, correlational, observational (non-experimental) study was conducted with 43 patients, using non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The participants had a positive antigen test result for SARS-CoV-2, a hemogram report, and serum ferritin measurement. A data collection form was used, and the data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 and Excel 2019, with descriptive tables and bar graphs. Results: A moderate correlation was found between serum ferritin levels and the neutrophil-lymphocyte index in COVID-19 positive patients attended at SEMEDIC. The average age was 53 years, with 58% male and 42% female. Differences in hemogram values were observed. Neutrophilia and lymphopenia were noted. The average ferritin level was 449 ng/ml, and the neutrophil-lymphocyte index was 2.4. Conclusion: A moderate correlation exists between serum ferritin levels and the neutrophil-lymphocyte index in COVID-19 positive patients attended at SEMEDIC (p=0.002); Spearman's Rho = 0.468.
