Academic stress and coping strategies in nursing students at Norbert Wiener University, November 2010
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2011) Montoya Revilla, Liliana; Villarreal Sulca, Rosa Margarita; Chávez Flores, Erik Mario
Academic stress and the lack of adequate coping mechanisms are two of the most common issues among students due to the consequences they generate at an academic level. Nursing students must properly manage coping mechanisms in response to academic stress. For this reason, the following research problem was proposed: What are the levels of academic stress and what coping strategies are used by students in the V and VI cycles of Nursing at Wiener University? The objective was to evaluate the level of academic stress and the coping strategies of students according to academic cycle, gender, marital status, employment condition, and weighted average, as well as the relationship between the study variables. This analysis is correlational and cross-sectional. Population: students enrolled in the professional courses of the Academic Professional Nursing School (third to tenth cycle) in the 2010-II academic semester. Sample: 50 students from the courses Adult Health Nursing II (V cycle) and Women's and Neonatal Health Nursing (VI cycle), enrolled in the morning shift. The instrument used was the Barraza scale, adapted by the authors, which was subjected to reliability testing with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.79. The results showed that students in the V and VI cycles exhibit medium levels of stress, with task overload and evaluations being the main stressors, while students in the VI cycle use more appropriate coping strategies (assertive skills). No significant correlation was found between stress level and coping strategies.

Occupational stress and coping strategies of nurses in the medicine service (third floor) at Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Castilla Aburto, Justina Victoria; Remigio Silva, Edwin David; Chávez Flores, Erik Mario
The origin of this work is to understand the level of work-related stress in nurses in the Medicine service, a service in which they are constantly exposed to strong emotions, tensions, and risks due to the nature of the patients who come to this service. If we add inadequate working conditions to this, these factors collectively generate "work-related stress," which affects their productivity, leading to poor quality nursing care. The objective of the study is to determine the level of work-related stress and the coping strategies of nurses in the Medicine service (third floor) at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital. The study is quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and non-experimental in design. The sample consists of 41 nurses from the Medicine service at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital. The instruments used were a Likert-type scale to measure stress and a coping strategies inventory developed by the author Nancy Rondoy, which were subjected to reliability testing. For the Likert-type scale, the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was used, with a result of Alpha = 0.99, indicating reliability. For validity, Pearson’s correlation coefficient was applied, resulting in a correlation coefficient of R > 0.20, which indicates validity. Similarly, the Coping Strategies Inventory was validated through expert judgment (9 judges), which allowed adjustments to be made according to their suggestions, with a result of p < 0.05, indicating significance. The results were as follows: The majority of nurses (53.7%) presented a medium level of work-related stress. When analyzing the results by dimension, a medium level of work-related stress was also found in the physical, psychological, and social dimensions (61%, 61%, and 53.7%, respectively). 56% of the nurses in the Medicine service (third floor) at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital had a moderately adequate level of coping strategies. Of these, 56% of the nurses had a moderately adequate level of physiological coping strategies, 48% had an adequate level of cognitive coping strategies, and 43% had a moderately adequate level of behavioral coping strategies.

Relationship between self-perception of temporomandibular disorders and stress in citizen security personnel. Cieneguilla 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-29) Rojas Ramos, Greesy Luz; Robles Montesinos, Ada Olinda
The diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) involves a detailed history, including the patient’s self-perception, a thorough clinical examination, and auxiliary tests. Among the tools for self-perception of TMD is the Fonseca Anamnestic Index, which identifies signs and symptoms of TMD. These disorders may be present in individuals with high stress levels, such as public safety personnel. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the self-perception of TMD and stress in public safety personnel. Methodology: This was an observational and analytical study using a self-administered questionnaire, which included the Simplified Fonseca Anamnestic Index and the Perceived Stress Scale. The sample consisted of 77 public safety personnel (police officers and security guards) from the district of Cieneguilla. The collected data were analyzed statistically using the Chi-square test and Spearman correlation, with p ≤ 0.05 as the significance threshold. Results: A significant moderate correlation was found between the self-perception of TMD and stress (p=0.000). Only 36.4% reported mild TMD, with 80.5% experiencing moderate stress and 19.5% low stress. Additionally, 44.2% of the personnel reported moderate stress without TMD, while 36.4% reported moderate stress and TMD, showing a statistically significant association (p-value=0.001). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the self-perception of temporomandibular disorders and stress in public safety personnel in the district of Cieneguilla.

Stress and its relationship with resilience in police personnel from three police departments in Lima, 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-12-23) Falla Campos, Leandro Yair; Valencia Pecho, Diego Ismael
The objective of this investigation was to examine the relationship between stress and resilience in 100 police officers, of both genders, from three police stations in Lima. The study was basic, correlational in scope, with a non-experimental design and a hypothetical-deductive method. The Perceived Stress Scale by Cohen, Kamarck, & Mermelstein and the Resilience Scale by Wagnild and Young were used. The findings indicated that the most prevalent stress level in the sample was average, represented by 31% (31), while 34% (34) perceived a high level of resilience. On the other hand, there was a very significant inverse correlation between the analyzed variables (rs = -0.315; p = 0.001). Stress showed an inverse relationship with the personal competence dimension (rs = -0.272; p = 0.006) and the self-acceptance and life acceptance dimension (rs = -0.344; p = 0.000). Regarding resilience, an inverse relationship was found with the negative stress dimension (distress) (rs = -0.213; p = 0.034), as well as with the positive stress dimension (eustress) (rs = -0.264; p = 0.008). Therefore, it was concluded that a lower stress score was proportionally associated with a higher resilience score in the police sample.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-03) Nuñez Cueva, Diana Carolina; Palomino Taquire, Rewards
Work factors such as the overload to which nursing professionals are subjected are a global problem; This is a complicated situation that requires efforts for a timely solution. On the other hand, the level of stress in nursing graduates is surrounded by stressful elements, so the presence of work stress must be recognized. This research is applied with a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional approach and at a correlational descriptive level. The population and census sample are the nursing professionals of the María Auxiliadora Hospital, during the first quarter of 2021. The survey technique is the one that will be applied to collect data on both variables. To measure work factors, the questionnaire adapted, validated and reliable by Joana Fornes Vives 2006 will be used, the instrument composed of 36 items in three dimensions such as pressure-demand, organization-human relations and environment. Likewise, for the level of stress, the Maslach Burnout Inventory instrument will be used with 22 items in three dimensions such as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal fulfillment. The data will be statistically processed with the Pearson coefficient and expressed through graphs and bar tables.
