Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of acupuncture in improving symptoms in cancer patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-03) Arevalo Meza, Sarvia Vanessa; Fabián Muñoz, Jesús Jonathan; Matta Solis, Eduardo PercyObjective: Analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture to improve the symptoms of cancer patients. Methodology: Systematic and quantitative analytical review, subjected to critical selection, using the Grade evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence, found in the following databases: PubMed, Sciencedirect, Scielo, Wiley Online Library, Elsevier, Epistemonikos . Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 70% (n= 7/10) are Systematic reviews, 20% (n= 2/10) are systematic reviews – meta-analysis and 10% (n= 1/10) are meta-analysis. The data obtained from systematic reviews, systematic reviews – meta-analysis and meta-analysis results in the present study that these come from the countries of China (50%), followed by Germany (20%), the United Kingdom (10%) and the USA ( 20%). Results: In relation to the evidence of the studies found, 70% (n=7/10) point out the effectiveness of acupuncture as an appropriate adjuvant or complementary treatment to improve the symptoms of cancer patients, improving the quality of life in cancer patients, of which no adverse effects are evident, but additional studies are needed to generate more reliability in its use. Conclusion: There is effectiveness of acupuncture to improve the symptoms of cancer patients.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of alternative and complementary medicine in pediatric patients with otitis media(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-03-08) Tucno Palomino, Melissa; Lazo Apaza, Ericka Lizbeth; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethObjective: To systematize the evidence about the effectiveness of alternative and complementary medicine in pediatric patients with otitis media. Material and Methods: Systematic Review, the search has been restricted to systematic reviews with full text which have been selected for having been subjected to a critical reading, using the GRADE evaluation to identify their degree of evidence. Of the 10 international systematic reviews found, it is observed that 70% (7) correspond to systematic reviews, 10% (1) trials, 10% (1) randomized study and 10% (1) randomized study. Results: It is observed that when selecting Systematic Reviews, the results found were that 90% of the evidence shows that alternative medicine in pediatric patients with otitis media is effective and 10% is not effective. Conclusions: It is concluded that 9/10 of the articles found demonstrate that the use of alternative and complementary medicine is effective in the treatment of pediatric patients with otitis media and that only 1/10 does not demonstrate effectiveness.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of alternative therapies to improve quality of life in oncology patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-02) Martinez Angeles, Katherine Liseth; Cruz Huamán, Yovana; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: Systematize evidence on the effectiveness of alternative therapies to improve quality of life in cancer patients. Materials and Methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, recording relevant studies to answer specific questions. The search was limited to articles with full text, they were subjected to an analytical reading, assigning the strength of recommendation using the grade system. Results: In the search, 10 articles were chosen where 30% (03/10) are pre-experimental designs from Spain and Mexico, 30% (03/10) are systematic reviews from China and Peru, 40% (04/10) experimental study, meta-analysis, quasi-experimental and randomized controlled clinical trial from the countries China, Cuba and South Korea. 80% of articles affirm that alternative therapies are effective in improving quality of life, and 20% showed not so significant results, needing more and better research. Conclusions: 8 out of 10 investigations showed that there is effectiveness of alternative therapies, reducing anxiety, pain, fatigue and depression; and 2 of 10 investigations improve the quality of life in some of its aspects and in conjunction with other alternative therapies to be effective.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions to improve social skills in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-01-06) Calderón Ganoza, Rosa Patricia; Basurco Rojas, María Petronila; Rivera Lozada De Bonilla, OrianaObjective: Systematize the evidence of the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions for the management of social skills of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Material and Method: The study is a systematic review, the search has been restricted to full-text articles and the selected articles were subjected to a critical evaluation, using the GRADE method to review their level of evidence. Results: 10 articles were selected, 50% (5/10) correspond to Systematic Review 10% (1/10), Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial 10% (1/10), Quasi-Experimental 10% (1/10), Study Pre Experimental 10% (1/10), Controlled Clinical Trial 10% (1/10) and Experimental 10% (1/10). Conclusions: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 80% (8/10) of them conclude that there is notable effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions for improving social skills in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. These interventions help reduce stress, hyperactivity, anxiety, depression and improve emotional control. Material and Method: The systematic exploration of the 10 scientific articles that deal with the effectiveness of the use of Non-Pharmacological Therapies in the relief of pain in hospitalized children, were in the subsequent databases Cochrane, Lilacs, Scielo, Medline Pubmed, these were examined according to the Grade scale to establish its strength and quality of evidence Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 80% recommend that non-pharmacological therapies are effective for the relief of pain in hospitalized children and the 20% evidence that the nurse is of vital importance to apply these therapies and educate the family and the patient. Conclusions: According to this review, it can be said that nursing has a very important role in the application of these non-pharmacological therapies, in addition to strengthening their autonomy in caring for the child since the application of these therapies is their decision, with the firm purpose to improve the physical, biological and emotional well-being of the hospitalized child. Keywords: Non-Pharmacological Therapies, relief, pain, hospitalized child.Ítem Acceso abierto Interventions with alternative and complementary medicine in comparison of placebos for the decrease of gastrointestinal symptoms in ambulatory adults who come to health centers(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-24) Toranzo Arévalo, Iris; Rafael Luque, Sonia; Pérez Siguas, Rosa EvaObjective: To systematize the evidence on interventions using alternative and complementary medicine compared to placebos for the reduction of gastrointestinal symptoms in adult outpatients visiting health centers. Methodology: Systematic review. Out of 879 articles, a sample of 10 articles was selected. Databases used include PubMed, Cochrane, Wiley, and Epistemonikos. The study design consisted of 30% systematic review, 10% meta-analysis-systematic review, 10% randomized controlled trial, 20% cohort, 20% literature review, and 10% descriptive correlational study. Based on the quality of the evidence, 50% was rated as high, and based on the strength of recommendation, 50% was considered strong. The countries of origin of the studies were Italy (20%), Germany (20%), Canada (20%), China (10%), United Kingdom (10%), Sweden (10%), and Norway (10%). Results: 80% of the studies indicated that alternative and complementary medicine interventions, including herbs, massages, and meditation, were effective in comparison to placebos for reducing gastrointestinal symptoms in adult outpatients. 20% showed discrepancies due to limited information in the studies. Conclusion: It was concluded that 8 out of 10 authors reported that interventions with herbs, massages, and meditation, compared to placebos, were effective in reducing gastrointestinal symptoms in adult outpatients visiting health centers.Ítem Acceso abierto Lifestyles of the Senior Adult who they attend Complementary Medicine of the Alberto Sabogal Sologuren National Hospital, October – 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-14) Neyra Rodriguez, Diana Magdalena; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: To know the lifestyles of the Elderly who attend Complementary Medicine at the Alberto Sabogal Sologuren National Hospital, October - 2019. Material and method: A quantitative, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study was proposed; in which 100 older adults who attended the Complementary Medicine service were included. The data collection instrument entitled "FANTASTIC" was applied, which is composed of 10 dimensions and was validated by applying a pilot test. Results: It was obtained that for the reliability test applied by dimension a minimum value of .705 was obtained in the alcohol and other drugs dimension, while the maximum value was obtained in the introspection dimension of .848. Regarding the level of lifestyle according to the "FANTASTIC" instrument, it was classified into 5 categories, among which it was found that 2.0% are in the danger zone, 23.0% were in the low danger zone; while 15.0% have an adequate lifestyle. 27.0% have a good lifestyle, while 33.0% have an optimal lifestyle or also classified as FANTASTIC. Conclusions: The lifestyle level of the elderly in the Complementary Medicine service in 33% obtained an optimal level of healthy lifestyle, 27% obtained a good level of lifestyle.Publicación Acceso abierto Medicina tradicional y complementaria en el proceso de recuperación de pacientes de un establecimiento de salud de Lima Metropolitana, 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-11-15) Alvarado Chávez, Britt; Millones Gomez, Segundo GermanObjetivo. Determinar la relación existente entre el uso de la Medicina Tradicional y Complementaria en el proceso de recuperación de pacientes de un establecimiento de salud de Lima Metropolitana, 2024. Metodología. Se utilizó el método hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo histórico-aplicativo, diseño no experimental y alcance correlacional. Resultados. Se evidenció la correlación entre fitoterapia de las plantas medicinales y la recuperación de los pacientes; la prueba de X2 tuvo significación p= 0,000; el uso de plantas medicinales presentó valor p= 0,003 ambos fueron estadísticamente significativas menor a 0,05. En cuanto al uso de la acupuntura usaron el 96,7 % siendo valor destacable y la significación valor fue p= 0,853. Respecto al Thai chi el 97,8% correspondió a la mayoría la significancia valor fue p= 0,453. Acerca de la significancia (p=valores) sobre características demográficas, los participantes no muestran asociación a la recuperación. Conclusiones. Se evidenció correlación entre el uso de la Medicina Tradicional y Complementaria frente a la recuperación de pacientes de un establecimiento de salud de Lima Metropolitana.Ítem Acceso abierto Non-pharmacological measures for preventing and treating oral mucositis in cancer patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-25) Ramos Castilla, Patricia Carolina; Legua Yovera, Flor del Rosario; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethObjectives: Systematize the evidence that exists on effective non-pharmacological measures for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis in cancer patients. Materials and Methods: It was carried out through a systematic review, 10 research articles were selected, taken from databases such as Pubmed, Elsevier, Scielo, the Cochrane, Google Scholar, the selection of these articles has been limited to studies with text complete, they were then evaluated through critical reading. Results: The study concluded 100% that non-pharmacological therapies were effective in preventing and treating oral mucositis. Conclusions: Among the non-pharmacological therapies that were effective in preventing and treating oral mucositis in cancer patients, we can find: the use of laser therapy, cryotherapy and the use of natural agents such as honey, aloe vera, zinc, Among others, to choose the most appropriate treatment it is necessary to evaluate the degree of mucositis and the economic factor. These treatments must go in conjunction with adequate nutrition and oral hygiene.
