Inteligencia emocional y autoestima en estudiantes de secundaria en la Institución Educativa San Luis Gonzaga, Ica, 2025

Abstract

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y la autoestima en estudiantes de cuarto y quinto grado de secundaria de la Institución Educativa San Luis Gonzaga, Ica, durante el año 2025; la investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo básico y nivel correlacional, con un diseño no experimental y de corte transversal; la muestra estuvo conformada por 169 estudiantes seleccionados mediante muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple, a quienes se les aplicó el Cuestionario de Inteligencia Emocional TMMS-24 y la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg; los resultados evidenciaron la existencia de una correlación positiva débil y estadísticamente significativa entre la inteligencia emocional y la autoestima (rho = 0.266; p < 0.001), así como relaciones positivas significativas entre la autoestima y las dimensiones atención emocional (rho = 0.181; p = 0.01), claridad emocional (rho = 0.234; p < 0.001) y reparación emocional (rho = 0.268; p < 0.001); en conclusión, se determinó que mayores niveles de autoestima se asocian con un mejor desarrollo de la inteligencia emocional y sus dimensiones en los estudiantes evaluados.

The present study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and self esteem in fourth- and fifth-grade secondary school students from the San Luis Gonzaga Educational Institution, Ica, during the year 2025. The research was conducted under a quantitative approach, basic type, and correlational level, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 169 students selected through simple random probabilistic sampling, to whom the TMMS-24 Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were administered. The results showed a weak but statistically significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and self-esteem (rho = 0.266; p < 0.001), as well as significant positive relationships between self-esteem and the dimensions of emotional attention (rho = 0.181; p = 0.01), emotional clarity (rho = 0.234; p < 0.001), and emotional repair (rho = 0.268; p < 0.001). In conclusion, it was determined that higher levels of self-esteem are associated with better development of emotional intelligence and its dimensions in the students evaluated.
