Capacidad funcional y autonomía, en niños neurodiversos de un centro de rehabilitación pediátrica del distrito de Ate, 2026

Abstract

La capacidad funcional se define como la aptitud para ejecutar actividades cotidianas en aspectos mentales y físicos, mientras que la autonomía implica desenvolverse independientemente en entornos que fomentan desarrollo, interacción y supervivencia. Este estudio examina su relación en niños neurodiversos, enfatizando la independencia desde la toma de decisiones temprana. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre capacidad funcional y autonomía en niños neurodiversos de un Centro de Rehabilitación Pediátrica del distrito de Ate, 2026. Materiales y métodos: Población: niños neurodivergentes del Centro FISIOKIDS DIVINO NIÑO (Ate). Instrumentos: PEDI-CAT (capacidad funcional) y Escala VINELAND (autonomía). Diseño: hipotético-deductivo, aplicado, cuantitativo, descriptivo-correlacional. Resultados: Se halló correlación positiva significativa entre capacidad funcional global y autonomía. Las dimensiones actividades de la vida diaria, movilidad, social/cognitiva y responsabilidad mostraron correlaciones positivas moderadas a altas con la autonomía. Conclusiones: Estos hallazgos evidencian que el desarrollo de dichas dimensiones se encuentra asociados con mayores niveles de autonomía en los niños evaluados.

Functional capacity is defined as the ability to perform daily activities in both mental and physical aspects, while autonomy involves functioning independently in environments that foster development, interaction, and survival. This study examines their relationship in neurodiverse children, emphasizing independence from an early decision-making perspective. Objective: To determine the relationship between functional capacity and autonomy in neurodiverse children at a Pediatric Rehabilitation Center in the Ate district, 2026.Materials and methods: Population: neurodivergent children from the FISIOKIDS DIVINO NIÑO Center (Ate). Instruments: PEDI-CAT (functional capacity) and Vineland Scale (autonomy). Design: hypothetical-deductive, applied, quantitative, descriptive-correlational. Results: A significant positive correlation was found between overall functional capacity and autonomy. The dimensions of activities of daily living, mobility, social/cognitive functioning, and responsibility showed moderate to high positive correlations with autonomy. Conclusions: These findings show that the development of these dimensions is associated with higher levels of autonomy in the children evaluated.
