Conocimiento y prácticas preventivas sobre VIH/SIDA en estudiantes de secundaria de una institución educativa privada de Lima, 2026

Abstract

El VIH es un virus que afecta el sistema inmunológico y el SIDA es la etapa más avanzada de esta enfermedad. Este virus continúa representando uno de los principales desafíos para la salud pública mundial, ya que ha causado la muerte de más de 44,1 millones de personas. La investigación tuvo por objetivo general determinar la relación entre el conocimiento y las prácticas preventivas sobre VIH/SIDA en estudiantes de secundaria de una institución educativa privada de Lima en el año 2026. El método fue cuantitativo, no experimental, correlacional y de corte transversal con una muestra de 124 estudiantes de secundaria. Para medir el nivel de conocimiento y prácticas preventivas sobre VIH/SIDA se usó el instrumento elaborado por Llerena y Ventura en el 2025, ambos cuestionarios tienen validez por juicio de expertos, en la fiabilidad para conocimiento se usó la prueba KR-20 con un valor de 0.740 y para práctica preventiva se utilizó la prueba alfa de Cronbach con un valor de 0.760. Los resultados descriptivos en conocimiento sobre VIH/SIDA mostraron que el 73,4% se ubicó en nivel medio, el 13,7% en nivel alto y el 12,9% en nivel bajo. En prácticas preventivas, el 54,0% se ubicó como adecuado, el 41,1% en regular y el 4,8% en inadecuado. Además, se halló un coeficiente de correlación r=0.554 (p=0.010), lo que indica una correlación positiva moderada entre el conocimiento y las prácticas preventivas sobre VIH/SIDA.

HIV is a virus that affects the immunological system and AIDS is the most advanced stage of this disease. This virus continues to represent one of the main challenges for global public health, as it has caused the death of more than 44.1 million people. The investigation had the general objective of determining the relationship between knowledge and preventive practices on HIV/AIDS among high school students at a private educational institution in Lima in 2026. The method was quantitative, non-experimental, correlational and crosssectional with a sample of 124 high school students. To measure the level of knowledge and preventive practices on HIV/AIDS, the instrument developed by Llerena and Ventura in 2025 was used. Both tests have validity by the judgment of experts, and for reliability for knowledge, the KR-20 test is used with a value of 0.740, and for preventive practices, the Cronbach's alpha test is used with a value of 0.760. The descriptive results showed that 73.4% of participants had an average level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS, 13.7% had high level and 12.9% low level. Regarding preventive practices, 54.0% were appropriate, 41.1% were regular and 4.8% were inadequate. Furthermore, a correlation coefficient of r=0.554 (p=0.010) was observed indicating a moderate positive correlation between knowledge and preventive practices on HIV/AIDS.
