Autoestima y dependencia emocional en estudiantes de un instituto privado de Lima - 2025

Abstract

La etapa de juventud y adultez temprana se caracteriza por la construcción de vínculos afectivos y el fortalecimiento de la identidad, siendo la autoestima y la dependencia emocional factores determinantes en el bienestar de los estudiantes de educación superior. En este marco, la presente investigación tuvo como objetivo establecer la relación entre la autoestima y la dependencia emocional en educandas de la carrera técnica de Farmacia de un instituto privado de Lima. El estudio se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo básico, con diseño no experimental, transversal y correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 108 educandas mediante muestreo probabilístico estratificado. Se aplicaron la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg y la Escala de Dependencia Emocional de Lemos y Londoño, previamente validadas en el contexto peruano. Los datos fueron procesados con IBM SPSS 26, empleando estadística descriptiva y el coeficiente de correlación Rho de Spearman, tras comprobar la ausencia de normalidad con la prueba de Kolgomorov-Smirnov. Los resultados evidenciaron una correlación negativa, moderada y estadísticamente significativa entre la autoestima y la dependencia emocional (Rho = –.469; p < .01), así como entre la autoestima y las dimensiones ansiedad por separación, modificación de planes y expresión límite, otras dimensiones, como expresión afectiva, búsqueda de atención y miedo a la soledad, mostraron correlaciones bajas pero significativas. Se concluye que las estudiantes con baja autoestima son más vulnerables a establecer vínculos afectivos desadaptativos, lo que resalta la necesidad de implementar programas de prevención y promoción de la salud emocional en entornos educativos.

The stage of youth and early adulthood is characterized by the formation of emotional bonds and the strengthening of identity, with self-esteem and emotional dependence being determining factors in the well-being of higher education students. Within this framework, the objective of this research was to establish the relationship between self-esteem and emotional dependence in female students enrolled in the technical pharmacy program at a private institute in Lima. The study was conducted using a basic quantitative approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The sample consisted of 108 students selected through stratified probability sampling. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Lemos and Londoño Emotional Dependency Scale, previously validated in the Peruvian context, were applied. The data were processed with IBM SPSS 26, using descriptive statistics and Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient, after verifying the absence of normality with the Kolgomorov-Smirnov test. The results showed a negative, moderate, and statistically significant correlation between self-esteem and emotional dependence (Rho = –.469; p < .01), as well as between self-esteem and the dimensions of separation anxiety, modification of plans, and boundary expression, other dimensions, such as affective expression, attention seeking, and fear of loneliness, showed low but significant correlations. It is concluded that students with low self-esteem are more vulnerable to establishing maladaptive emotional bonds, highlighting the need to implement emotional health prevention and promotion programs in educational settings.
