Agresión y empatía en adolescentes escolares de un centro educativo público de Santa Anita, 2024

Abstract

Este estudio tuvo como propósito determinar la relación que existe entre la agresión y la empatía en una muestra de 281 estudiantes, entre varones y mujeres, de educación secundaria de un liceo educativo público de Santa Anita. Fue de tipo básica y dispuso de un diseño no experimental, con alcance correlacional y de corte transversal. Se administraron dos instrumentos: el Cuestionario de Agresión (AQ) y la Escala Básica de Empatía (EBS). Los resultados señalaron que el 23.1% alcanzó un nivel alto de empatía, siendo la dimensión afectiva la que obtuvo mayor porcentaje en el nivel bajo (19.2%); en contraparte, el 26.7% y el 15.3% alcanzaron niveles de alto y muy alto de agresión, siendo la dimensión hostilidad la de mayor porcentaje en el nivel muy alto (14.9%). Por otro lado, se halló que la agresión y la empatía mostraron correlación inversa, baja y estadísticamente significativa (rs=-.15; p=.001); asimismo, la empatía se correlacionó de manera inversa y débil con las dimensiones ira (rs=- .241; p=.000) y hostilidad (rs=-.211; p=.000), pero no con las dimensiones: agresión física (rs=- .04; p=.000) y agresión verbal (rs=-.10; p=.000). En síntesis, a mayor nivel de agresión, menor el nivel de empatía en la muestra seleccionada.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between aggression and empathy in a sample of 281 male and female secondary school students from a public high school in Santa Anita. The study was elementary and had a non-experimental, correlational, and cross sectional design. Two instruments were administered: the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) and the Basic Empathy Scale (EBS). The results indicated that 23.1% reached a high level of empathy, with the affective dimension obtaining the highest percentage at the low level (19.2%); in contrast, 26.7% and 15.3% reached high and very high levels of aggression, with the hostility dimension obtaining the highest percentage at the very high level (14.9%). On the other hand, it was found that aggression and empathy showed a low, statistically significant inverse correlation (rs = -.15; p = .001); Likewise, empathy was inversely and weakly correlated with the dimensions of anger (rs=-.241; p=.000) and hostility (rs=-.211; p=.000), but not with the dimensions of physical aggression (rs=-.04; p=.000) and verbal aggression (rs=-.10; p=.000). In summary, the higher the level of aggression, the lower the level of empathy in the selected sample.
