Inteligencia emocional y autoestima en estudiantes de secundaria de una institución educativa pública de San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima,2024

Abstract

El propósito central de esta investigación fue examinar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y la autoestima en estudiantes de secundaria de una institución educativa pública en San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, durante el año 2024. Para ello, se adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo de tipo básico, con un diseño no experimental, transversal y de alcance descriptivo correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 300 alumnos de tercero, cuarto y quinto año de secundaria, incluyendo tanto hombres como mujeres. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo mediante El inventario de inteligencia emocional ICE:NA de BarOn, diseñado por Reuven Bar On y adaptado al contexto peruano por Nelly Ugarriza Chávez y Liz Pajares Del Águila, así como La escala de autoestima de Rosenberg, propuesta por Morris Rosenberg y ajustada en Perú por Yolanda Robles y Martin Padilla. Para el análisis de los datos, se emplearon los programas Excel y SPSS. Los análisis revelaron una correlación positiva y altamente significativa entre ambas variables (rho = .325; p = .000 < 0.05). En conclusión, se puede señalar que un nivel más alto de inteligencia emocional se asocia con una mayor autoestima en los estudiantes.

The central purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem in high school students of a public educational institution in Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, during the year 2024. For this purpose, a basic quantitative approach was adopted, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive design. The sample consisted of 300 students in the third, fourth and fifth years of secondary school, including both males and females. Data collection was carried out using the Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory EQi-YV, designed by Reuven Bar-On and adapted to the Peruvian context by Nelly Ugarriza Chávez and Liz Pajares Del Águila, as well as the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, proposed by Morris Rosenberg and adjusted in Peru by Yolanda Robles and Martin Padilla. Excel and SPSS. The analyses revealed a positive and highly significant correlation between both variables (rho = .325; p = .000 < 0.05). In conclusion, it can be noted that a higher level of emotional intelligence is associated with higher self-esteem in students.
