Ergonomic risk factors correlated with lower back pain in nurses working in the emergency service at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, 2018

Abstract

Materials and methods: Quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional correlational. The sample consisted of 150 nurses who met the inclusion criteria. The technique used was the survey and the instruments, the Likert-type scale that was validated by the author Cachay for ergonomic risk factor; and for lower back pain, by Chávez. Results: There is a moderate negative average correlation (p= 0.004, rho = -0.764) between the average risk factor (58.7%) and acute low back pain (53.3%). 46% presented high risk for the prolonged standing factor; 60.7% presented medium risk for the physical effort factor without application of body mechanics; and 76% presented medium risk for the forced and prolonged postures factor; Regarding low back pain, 55.3% presented acute low back pain, 23.3% did not present pain and 21.3% presented chronic low back pain Conclusions: There is a correlation between the average risk factors and acute low back pain; Regarding the prolonged standing factor, the risk factor is high; For the physical effort factor without application of body mechanics and for the forced and prolonged postures factor the risk factor is medium.

Materiales y métodos: Cuantitativo, descriptivo de corte transversal correlacional. La muestra estuvo constituida por 150 enfermeras que cumplen los criterios de inclusión. La técnica utilizada fue la encuesta y los instrumentos, la escala tipo Likert que fue validada por la autora Cachay para factor de riesgo ergonómico; y para dolor lumbar, por Chávez. Resultados: Existe una correlación moderada media negativa (p= 0,004, rho = -0,764) entre el factor de riesgo medio (58,7 %) y el dolor lumbar agudo (53,3 %). El 46% presentó riesgo alto para el factor bipedestación prolongada; el 60,7% presentó riesgo medio para el factor esfuerzo físico sin aplicación de la mecánica corporal; y el 76% presentó riesgo medio para el factor posturas forzadas y prolongadas; respecto al dolor lumbar, el 55,3% presentó dolor lumbar agudo, el 23,3% no presentó dolor y el 21,3% presentó dolor lumbar crónico Conclusiones: Existe correlación entre los factores de riesgo medio y el dolor lumbar agudo; referente al factor bipedestación prolongada, el factor de riesgo es alto; para el factor esfuerzo físico sin aplicación de la mecánica corporal y para el factor posturas forzadas y prolongadas el factor de riesgo es medio.
