Nutritional intervention is crucial in the treatment and recovery of the nutritional status of patients, especially those with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis, due to their increased energy and protein needs. If not met through diet, this can lead to Protein-Energy Wasting (PEW). The objective of this study was to identify the efficiency of Intradialytic Nutrition in improving the nutritional status of patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis. The clinical question was: Will intradialytic nutrition be effective in improving the nutritional status of adult patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis? The NuBE methodology was used, and a search in SCOPUS, SCIENCE DIRECT, PUBMED, SCIELO, etc., found 20 articles, 10 of which were evaluated using the CASPE tool. The selected randomized controlled trial titled "The beneficial effects of intradialytic parenteral nutrition in hemodialysis patients with protein-energy wasting: a prospective randomized controlled trial" has an AI level of evidence and strong recommendation grade. Conclusion: Supplementation for 3 months improved albumin levels, body mass status (body weight and BMI), spontaneous oral dietary intake, and the MIS score.
Resumen
La intervención nutricional es determinante en el tratamiento y recuperación del estado nutricional de los pacientes, especialmente de aquellos con Enfermedad Renal Crónica (ERC) en hemodiálisis, por tener necesidades energéticas y proteicas incrementadas, que al no ser cubiertas con la alimentación van a generar el Desgaste Energético Proteico (DEP). La presente investigación como objetivo identificar la eficiencia de la Nutrición Intradialítica en mejorar el estado nutricional de los pacientes con Enfermedad Renal Crónica en Hemodiálisis. La pregunta clínica fue: ¿La nutrición intradialítica será efectiva para mejorar el estado nutricional de pacientes adultos con enfermedad renal crónica en hemodiálisis? Se utilizó la metodología NuBE. La búsqueda de información se realizó en SCOPUS, SCIENCE DIRECT, PUBMED, SCIELO, etc., encontrando 20 artículos, seleccionándose 10 que fueron evaluados por la herramienta CASPE, optando por el Ensayo Clínico Controlado Aleatorizado titulado: “The beneficial efects of intradialytic parenteral nutrition in hemodialysis patients with protein energy wasting: a prospective randomized controlled trial”, que posee un nivel de evidencia AI y Grado de Recomendación Fuerte. Concluyéndose que la suplementación durante 3 meses demostró mejora en los niveles de albúmina, el estado de la masa corporal (peso corporal e IMC), ingesta dietética oral espontánea y el MIS.
