The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about type 2 diabetes mellitus and the lifestyle of older adults treated in the emergency service of a clinic in Lima, 2023.The methodology used will be quantitative approach, with a non-experimental and descriptive design of correlational type, cross-sectional. The sample will be made up of 90 older adult patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. For data collection, two previously validated instruments will be used. The first will be the "Level of Knowledge" questionnaire based on the Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes. The second instrument will be the Lifestyle Questionnaire developed by Silupu, M., which will evaluate the lifestyle of older adult patients. Both instruments have a high level of statistical reliability, with a reliability coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) of 0.85. The collection of information will take place in approximately 30 minutes per participant. For the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained, tables and graphs will be used. In addition, the Spearman statistic will be used as an estimation method to verify the proposed hypothesis. A confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 5% will be established. The results will be presented in a contingency table that will relate both variables.
Resumen
El objetivo de esta investigación es determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y el estilo de vida de los adultos mayores atendidos en el servicio de emergencia de una clínica en Lima ,2023. La metodología utilizada será de enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental y descriptivo de tipo correlacional, de corte transversal. La muestra estará compuesta por 90 pacientes adultos mayores que padecen diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Para la recolección de datos, se emplearán dos instrumentos previamente validados. El primero será el cuestionario “Nivel de Conocimiento“ basado en los Estándares de Atención Médica en Diabetes (Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes). El segundo instrumento será el cuestionario de Estilo de Vida desarrollado por Silupu, el cual evaluará el estilo de vida de los pacientes adultos mayores. Ambos instrumentos cuentan con un alto nivel de confiabilidad estadística, con un coeficiente de confiabilidad (alfa de Cronbach) de 0.85. La recolección de información se llevará a cabo en aproximadamente 30 minutos por participante. Para el análisis e interpretación de los datos obtenidos, se utilizarán tablas y gráficos. Además, se empleará el estadístico de Spearman como método de estimación para comprobar la hipótesis planteada. Se establecerá un nivel de confianza del 95% y un margen de error del 5%. Los resultados se presentarán en una tabla de contingencia que relacionará ambas variables
