Ítem Restringido Effect of functional positioning on physiological responses in premature infants with mechanical ventilation - Hospital Goyeneche, Arequipa 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-24) Abanto Estrada, Giovana Del Pilar; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe WHO reports 15 million preterm births annually. Due to this increase, there is a need to find methods to stabilize their physiological parameters during their stay in the neonatal ICU. It is important to keep the neonate stable while performing routine procedures in the ICU to ensure less energy expenditure, reduced stress, and optimal growth and maturation. As cardiorespiratory physiotherapists, we can provide this stability through a strategy known as functional positioning. Functional positioning provides alignment and containment for the baby, reducing pain without exceeding routine handling of the infant. For this work, a Physiological Response Assessment Sheet was designed, considering factors such as alignment, containment, and pain as determinants in functional positioning. This will be a quasi-experimental, prospective study with a population of 80 neonates. The sample will be divided into two groups: the experimental group, where infants will be placed in different functional positions, and their physiological responses will be monitored for a week, and the control group, for comparison.
