Conocimiento y práctica de la higiene de manos en enfermeros, como indicador de gestión en las áreas críticas de un Hospital, Moquegua 2024

Objective: Determine the relationship between knowledge and practice of hand hygiene of nurses as a management indicator in critical areas of a hospital, Moquegua, 2024. Methodology: The method was hypothetical-deductive, quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design and correlational level, cross-sectional, with the participation of nurses working in critical areas of the hospital. A questionnaire and an observation guide were applied, both previously validated instruments, whose answers are scored. Results: 80 nurses from critical areas participated, 87.5% were women and 12.5% were men, 17.5% were aged between 36 and 40 years. Regarding the level of knowledge of hand hygiene, 90.0% showed a high level, 66.2% showed a high level in the general dimension on basic aspects, 75.0% showed a high level in the dimension of the five moments, and 83.0% showed a high level in the technical dimension. In relation to hand hygiene practice, 87.5% had good hand hygiene practices. When analyzing the correlation between knowledge and practice we found a Spearman's Rho of 0.406 with a p-value<0.001. Conclusions: It is concluded that hand hygiene as indicated by management is found to be associated the level of knowledge with good hand hygiene practices of nurses in critical areas.
