Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-06-01) Pérez Rivera, Alejandra Lucila; Salcedo Rioja, Mercedes RitaThe objective of this research was to determine the level of empathic orientation in students from the 4th to 10th cycles of the Dentistry Program at Norbert Wiener University. The study was observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective. The sample consisted of 323 students from the 4th to 10th cycles of the program. Empathic orientation was measured using the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale (JSE). Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution tables, measures of central tendency, and dispersion. The relationship between variables was evaluated using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. The study found that the average global empathic orientation score was 107.24. It was found that the academic cycle was statistically related to the global empathic orientation (p: 0.000). However, no statistically significant relationship was found between sex and global empathic orientation (p: 0.274). The study concludes that students in the Dentistry Program obtained high scores for empathic orientation using the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale. The academic cycle was statistically related to empathic orientation, but no statistically significant relationship was found between sex and empathic orientation.Ítem Acceso abierto Creation and validation of an instrument to measure the level of knowledge on oral health in children aged five and six years at the 5083 Educational Institution, San Martín de Porres, Callao 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-10-25) Westreicher Criales, Ana Judith; León Untiveros, Gina FiorellaObjective: To validate an instrument for measuring the level of knowledge about oral health in children aged five and six years at I.E. 5083 San Martin de Porres-Callao in 2019. Materials and Methods: This was an observational, prospective, descriptive, and cross-sectional study. Data collection was conducted through a survey using a valid and reliable instrument. Results: Content validity was achieved through a literature review, resulting in an 11-item instrument. These items were evaluated using Aiken's V, scoring 0.9 in expert judgment, which led to the removal of one question. The instrument underwent an initial reliability test with 10 questions, yielding a result of "<0.60," prompting the removal of question 8. A second pilot test was conducted, achieving a reliability score of "0.74," demonstrating the instrument’s reliability. The validated instrument was then applied to a sample of 184 children aged 5 and 6 years at I.E. 5083 San Martin de Porres in Lima-Callao, revealing a medium level of knowledge among the students. Conclusion: The instrument for measuring the level of knowledge about oral health in children aged 5 and 6 years is valid and reliable.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of an educational intervention on the prescription of drugs for pain and inflammation post complex exodontics in students of 8th and 9th cycle of the dental clinic of the norbert wiener university 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-08-13) Quispe Caballero, Luz Angélica; Vilchez Bellido, DinaObjective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention on the prescription of medications for pain and inflammation post-complex tooth extraction in 8th and 9th cycle students of the Norbert Wiener University Dental Clinic in 2019. Methodology: A quasi-experimental research design. The sample consisted of 82 students from the Dentistry program. Results: The average age of participants was 27.5 ± 4.9 years. Before the intervention, 48.8% of students had a medium level of knowledge, and 42.7%, 61.0%, and 18.3% prescribed corticosteroids, AINES, and opioids, respectively. After the intervention, 53.7% had a high level of knowledge, and the prescription of corticosteroids, AINES, and opioids increased to 81.7%, 84.1%, and 59.8%, respectively. The knowledge level of students under 30 years of age (p<0.001) and those aged 30 years or older (p<0.001) significantly improved after the intervention. Additionally, students under 30 improved their prescription practices for corticosteroids (p<0.001), AINES (p=0.018), and opioids (p<0.001), while students over 30 also showed significant improvements in corticosteroid (p=0.001), AINES (p=0.015), and opioid (p=0.001) prescriptions. The knowledge level significantly improved in both men (p<0.001) and women (p<0.001). Women also significantly improved their practices of prescribing corticosteroids (p<0.001), AINES (p=0.008), and opioids (p<0.001), while men only showed improvements in corticosteroids (p=0.003) and AINES (p=0.046).Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of audiovisual training on deleterious oral habits in primary school teachers of the San Pablo Apóstol Educational Center, Lima 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-09) Hernandez Rodas, Maria Elena; Salcedo Rioja, Mercedes RitaThe objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of audiovisual training on deleterious oral habits at the San Pablo Apóstol educational center, Lima, 2019. It was a quasi-experimental, descriptive, and longitudinal study. The sample consisted of 30 primary school teachers, with 15 teachers receiving audiovisual training and 15 teachers receiving a lecture. The audiovisual training involved projecting images, videos, and clinical cases about the habit of mouth breathing and atypical swallowing. The lecture consisted of a verbal presentation without visual aids on the aforementioned habits. Before and after the training, the teachers completed a 15-question questionnaire, previously validated by expert judgment, to measure knowledge about deleterious oral habits. Additionally, they identified the sequelae in patients with mouth breathing and atypical swallowing using images. The results were analyzed using the Student’s t-test, with a significance level of 0.05%. The results showed that the teachers who received audiovisual training increased their knowledge level from 20% to 73.3%. In contrast, the teachers who received the lecture did not show an improvement in their knowledge.Ítem Acceso abierto Expectations of postgraduate studies in students of the sixth year of dentistry at Norbert Wiener University - 2020.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-12-13) Solis Torres, Wilmer Romel; Marroquín García, Lorenzo EnriqueGeneral Objective: To determine the postgraduate study expectations among sixth-year Dentistry students at the Norbert Wiener University in 2020.
