Ítem Acceso abierto Achievement of functional independence of patients with hemiplegic stroke after physiotherapy treatment in a rehabilitation hospital in Lima, period January to June 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-04-11) Ortiz Escalante, Omar David; Santos Rondón, Karla Elizabeth; Granados Carrera, Julio CesarThe objective was to evaluate the achievement of functional independence after physiotherapy treatment in patients with hemiplegic stroke. The instrument used was the Barthel test - Functional Independence. The sample consisted of 72 patients of both genders, including ages from 20 to 79 years. SPSS 20 statistical program was used. Our research has a Non-Experimental – Descriptive design, since no variable will be manipulated, the fact will be described as it is, no situation is constructed or created, only the existing one is described.Ítem Acceso abierto Functionality of lower limbs and its relationship with the risk of falls of the Center for the Elderly of the city of Huancayo, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-30) Inocente Gomero, Javier; Vera Arriola, Juan AméricoThis study aims to determine the relationship between functionality, specifically lower limb strength and flexibility, in older adults at the Senior Citizens' Center in Huancayo and the risk of falls. Three tests were used: the five times sit-to-stand test, the maximum reach test in sitting, and the Tinetti test. These tests were conducted in January and February of 2022 on 90 eligible participants at the Senior Citizens' Center in Huancayo who agreed to participate in the study. Exclusion criteria included dependence for movement and perception issues. After tabulating the results, issues related to strength and flexibility were identified, as well as fall risk levels. However, the relationship between the study variables was inconsistent, which was attributed to the inadequacy of the tests used for this population. It was recommended to complement these tests with others in future studies.Ítem Acceso abierto Functionality of the wrist and range of motion of the upper limb in patients with distal radius fracture at a polyclinic in the city of Lima, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-19) Huamaní Gutierrez, Ruth Evelyn; Arrieta Córdova, Andy FreudDistal radius fractures are significant at all social levels, ages, and occupations. The WHO states that post-menopausal women are a group for which bone densitometry should be considered. In the elderly, it occurs due to balance loss, while in young people, it results from high-impact activities. Furthermore, a lack of medical attention, where patients wait for an appointment or a referral for treatment or plaster removal, progressively affects the functionality of the upper limb. Objective: To determine the relationship between wrist functionality and upper limb range of motion in patients with distal radius fractures at a polyclinic in Lima, 2022. Materials and methods: A Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) questionnaire was used to assess functionality, and goniometry was employed to measure angles. The research method was hypothetical-deductive with a cross-sectional correlational study design, focusing on a population aged 18 to 80 years, with inclusion and exclusion criteria.Ítem Acceso abierto Risk of falls and physical activity in the elderly of the physio health and comprehensive rehabilitation group, period 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-17) Carigga Cubas, Shardee Cristel; Melgarejo Valverde, Jose AntonioTo determine the relationship between fall risk and physical activity in older adults from the GrupoFisio – Health and Comprehensive Rehabilitation, 2024. Materials and Methods: The research approach was quantitative, and the population consisted of 225 older adult patients, using a non-probabilistic census sampling method according to selection criteria. Results: The age group between 60 and 64 years represents 26.67% of the sample, while the 65 to 69 age group represents 21.78%. The sample was slightly dominated by females (50.22%), with 49.78% males. The prevalence of diabetes and hypertension was 33.78% each, and 32.44% of the sample had other comorbidities. A majority of the sample (34.67%) was underweight, followed by 29.78% with normal weight, 9.33% with overweight, 9.33% with obesity grade III, 8.89% with obesity grade I, and 8% with obesity grade II. A higher prevalence of high fall risk was found (36%). 14.67% had moderate risk, and 29.33% had low fall risk. Conclusions: The variables fall risk and physical activity are negatively and highly related, and the dimensions of balance and gait in fall risk are also negatively and highly correlated with physical activity.
