Daytime sleepiness and physical Activity in university students, Lima - 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-18) Terrazos Yance, Gabriela del Pilar; Diaz Mau, Aimee Yajaira
Daytime sleepiness is a sleep disorder characterized by a compulsive desire to sleep. It can be caused by various factors, such as inadequate sleep routines, poor-quality sleep, and a sudden reduction in sleep hours or recurrent awakenings. Unfortunately, these circumstances are frequent and recurrent in the context of university academic life, where fulfilling various responsibilities often leads to significant stress levels, poorly defined work schedules, and disrupted sleep patterns, which contribute to sleep disturbances. On the other hand, university life is marked by unhealthy habits, such as study routines, work assignments, and meetings with undefined durations, as well as poor eating habits based on junk food, all of which dramatically impact sleep patterns. These are the first routines to be reduced when trying to meet academic demands, leaving little time for other activities that would benefit optimal health, such as regular physical activity, which adds another negative factor to the health of university students.

Distance traveled and its relationship with peak expiratory flow in healthy older adults from the Tayta Wasi Center in Villa María del Triunfo 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-14) Neoponoceno Ramírez, Asunción Victoria; Chero Pisfil, Santos Lucio
According to the WHO, there is an increasing percentage of elderly individuals both nationally and internationally. It is important to highlight that they deserve special care due to the progressive changes in physiological reserves and age-related disorders. The prevalence of frailty in women is between 30% and 48%, and in men, it ranges from 21% to 35% in Latin America, decreasing by 10% every decade in sedentary individuals and 15% in those between the ages of 50 and 65. Older adults need to be informed about physical activity and improve their quality of life through the 6-minute walk and peak expiratory flow tests to prevent future risks.

Estilos de vida saludables y riesgo de enfermedad cardiovascular en los pacientes atendidos en el Hospital María Auxiliadora, Lima 2024
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-12-22) Pablo Montes, July Jeanet; Paipay Quispe, Carlos Enrique

Evidence-based educational interventions to increase the level of knowledge and improve healthy practices for the prevention of intestinal parasitosis in school-age children
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-08-02) Marcelo Montero, Ericka Beatriz; Nicho Ramos, Mayra Geraldine; Uturunco Vera, Milagros Lizbeth
The search for full-text articles was carried out in the Cochrane, Scielo and Pubmed databases. 10 articles are included (7 clinical trials, 2 quasi-experimental and 1 cross-sectional design). They all demonstrate the effectiveness of evidence-based educational interventions to increase the level of knowledge and improve healthy practices for the prevention of intestinal parasitosis in children: they are usually educational interventions aimed at teachers, parents and school children taught to through educational talks, demonstration sessions, posters, videos, brochures, etc. on specific topics of parasites signs, symptoms and their prevention. Educational programs with teaching resources such as videos, social dramas and workshops achieve a positive effect in improving knowledge related to healthy practices and habits such as; hand washing, nail trimming, personal hygiene, environmental hygiene and proper disposal of excreta. The nurse plays an important role in the education of children at school. Through interventions in schools, we can contribute to increasing the child's knowledge and improving their healthy lifestyle practices.

Exercise tolerance and maximal oxygen uptake in healthy people from in Comas parish, 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-16) Palomino Tapia, Juana Erlinda; Chero Pisfil, Santos Lucio
Physical activity is currently a global health issue due to the limited dedication to developing physical fitness. The loss of muscle strength or decreased aerobic capacity has been considered a harmful indicator for health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in four adults does not engage in physical activity. As economic progress advances in developing countries, physical inactivity increases by approximately 70% due to greater use of transportation, new technology, cultural values, and urban growth (1). In 2018, the United Nations General Assembly (UN) addressed the political declaration on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and implemented measures to reduce life-threatening risks and disabilities. The risk of dying from NCDs between the ages of 30 and 70 decreased by 4% between 2000 and 2016; however, this rate remains insufficient to meet the target set for 2030. It is essential for respiratory physiotherapists to be familiar with measurement tools, proper and timely evaluations for rehabilitation programs, and specific tests to assess patient conditions. Maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) is related to cardiorespiratory function and is considered the most reliable indicator for determining physical fitness at the cardiovascular and respiratory levels. Among the specific objectives is to determine the relationship between exercise tolerance and maximum oxygen consumption in healthy individuals. To achieve this, a project is proposed using a hypothetical-deductive method, as it focuses on studying the variable under investigation from the general to the specific.
