Technostress is a negative mental state generated by cognitive overload due to the continuous use of technological tools, which causes emotional problems in student populations. Research on technostress is limited in Peru; therefore, this study was conducted to expand the field of research at the intersection of technology and psychology. The main objective of this research was to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and technostress in students at a higher education institute in Lima. This research was descriptive, with a quantitative approach. The design was correlational and non-experimental. The Emotional Regulation Questionnaire for Peru (ERQP) and the Technostress Questionnaire for Peru (RED-TIC) were used. The participants were 150 students (male and female). The Spearman's rho of -.659** was obtained for the relationship between emotional regulation and technostress, indicating a moderately strong inverse relationship between the two variables and corroborating the hypothesis. The results obtained for the emotion regulation strategies showed a moderately strong inverse correlation between the cognitive reappraisal strategy and technostress, as corroborated by Spearman's rho of -.620. Furthermore, a weak relationship was observed between the suppression strategy and technostress, corroborated by Spearman's rho of -.353. It is concluded that greater use of emotion regulation is associated with lower technostress, a finding observed in the students evaluated at a higher education institution in Lima.
