The objective of this research work was "To determine the relationship between depression and quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis treatment". In this research, the hypothetical-deductive method of study was applied, this method is based on logical deductive inferences to arrive at particular conclusions from hypotheses that can later be experimentally proven; it had a quantitative orientation approach, it was characterized for being applied because it confronts the theoretical with the real concrete. The research design was non-experimental because the variables were not manipulated, cross-sectional because the data collection was carried out in a single time and it was correlational because it sought the relationship between the variable’s depression and quality of life in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment, the population used in the research covered all 90 patients and the technique used was the survey because data was collected directly from the population. Two instruments were used, the Beck Depression Inventory and the WHOQOL-BREF scale to measure quality of life.
Resumen
El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo “Determinar la relación entre la depresión y la calidad de vida en pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica en tratamiento de hemodiálisis”. En esta investigación se aplicó como método de estudio el tipo hipotético-deductiva, este método parte de inferencias lógicos deductivos para arribar a conclusiones particulares a partir de hipótesis y que después se puedan comprobar experimentalmente; tuvo un enfoque de orientación cuantitativa, se caracterizó por ser de tipo aplicada porque confronto lo teórico con lo concreto real. El diseño de la investigación fue no experimental ya que las variables no fueron manipuladas, de corte transversal debido a que la recolección de información se realizó en único tiempo y fue de nivel correlacional ya que se buscó la relación que hay entre las variables depresión y calidad de vida en pacientes que reciben tratamiento de hemodiálisis, la población utilizada en la investigación abarco la totalidad de 90 pacientes y la técnica utilizada fue la encuesta ya que se recopilo datos de manera directa a la población. Se utilizo dos instrumentos, el inventario de depresión de beck y la escala WHOQOL-BREF para medir calidad de vida.
