The objective of this study was to determine the level of relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward the care of patients receiving antithrombotic therapy among dental students at a private university in Lima during 2023. A quantitative approach with a non-experimental correlational design was used, and a questionnaire was applied to a sample of 331 students. The results revealed that 72% of the students had a regular level of knowledge about the care of patients receiving antithrombotic therapy, while 76% expressed positive attitudes. Therefore, a low direct correlation (rho = 0.202) with statistical significance (p = 0.007) was demonstrated between the levels of knowledge and attitudes toward the care of patients under antithrombotic therapy. In conclusion, a relationship was found between knowledge and attitudes toward the care of patients under antithrombotic therapy in dental students, highlighting the importance of strengthening knowledge and making appropriate decisions in this area.
Resumen
El presente estudio buscó determinar el nivel de relación entre los conocimientos y las actitudes frente a la atención de pacientes que reciben terapia antitrombótica en alumnos de Odontología de una universidad privada en Lima durante el año 2023. Con este fin, se utilizó un enfoque cuantitativo con un diseño no experimental de nivel correlacional; además, se aplicó un cuestionario en una muestra de 331 alumnos. Los resultados revelaron que el 72% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel regular en cuanto a conocimientos sobre la atención de pacientes que reciben terapia antitrombótica; así como un 76% manifestó tener actitudes positivas. Por lo tanto, se demostró una correlación directa baja (rho = 0,202) con significancia estadística (p = 0,007) entre los niveles de conocimiento y las actitudes hacia la atención de pacientes bajo terapia antitrombótica. En conclusión, se encontró una relación entre los conocimientos y las actitudes frente a la atención de pacientes bajo terapia antitrombótica en estudiantes de odontología, destacando la importancia de fortalecer los conocimientos y la toma de decisiones adecuadas en esta área.
