Hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and hypertriglyceridemia, characteristic conditions of diabetes mellitus, are closely related to greater cardiovascular damage and this leads to a higher rate of morbidity and mortality, lower quality of life, and higher costs in the health care system. The objective was to analyze the effect of omega-3 supplementation on reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease in adults with diabetes mellitus. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 165 articles, 11 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the article “An omega-3 fatty acid plasma index ≥4% prevents progression of coronary artery plaque in patients with coronary artery disease on statin treatment”, which has a level of evidence A I and Grade of Strong Recommendation. In conclusion, supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids in doses between 1 to 4 g/day does not support the recommendations for use in people with diabetes mellitus and/or with a history of coronary heart disease for the prevention or reduction of fatal coronary heart disease. non-fatal myocardial infarction or any other cardiovascular event.

El efecto de la suplementación con los ácidos grasos poliinsaturados omega-3 en pacientes diagnosticados con la enfermedad de cáncer de páncreas, por ya demostrado posee un impacto antitumoral in vivo e in vitro en la cadena celular del cáncer de páncreas.La presente investigación secundaria titulada como revisión crítica: EFECTO DE LA SUPLEMENTACIÓN CON ÁCIDOS GRASOS OMEGA 3 SOBRE LOS PARÁMETROS CLÍNICOS Y NUTRICIONALES EN PACIENTES DIAGNOSTICADOS CON CÁNCER DE PÁNCREAS tuvo como objetivo realizar el comentario crítico profesional el tema del efecto de la suplementación oral enriquecida con omega 3 EPA y ayudar con los parámetros clínicos y nutricionales de los pacientes diagnosticados con cáncer de páncreas
