Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of isoniazid in preventing tuberculosis in patients with HIV. Methodology: Systematic Review is a research design that allows us to collect and synthesize the best scientific evidence regarding a study topic. Of the studies, 6 are systematic reviews and 7 are cohort reviews. Results: We found 13 relevant studies. 90% (12) report that IPT is effective and they are from the United States, England, Tanzania, Australia and Brazil; while 10% (1) of the United States report that it is not effective in preventing tuberculosis in patients with HIV. Within these studies it was also found that the administration of isoniazid in children is 90% effective, if isoniazid is administered for 36 months compared to 6 months it is much more beneficial in patients with HIV, 6 months of isoniazid in patients with HIV reduces the risk of tuberculosis during the 7 years of follow-up, one of the reasons why a patient stops taking isionazid is the liver effects and the lack of follow-up for the IPT. Conclusions: It is concluded that the majority reports that the use of isonicide is effective in preventing tuberculosis in patients living with HIV; also that chemoprophylaxis with isionazide is important because it helps us reduce cases of tuberculosis in patients living with HIV; Therefore, it also reduces HIV/TBC mortality cases.
Resumen
Objetivo: Sistematizar las evidencias sobre la eficacia de la isoniacida en la prevención de tuberculosis en pacientes con el VIH. Metodología: Revisión Sistemática es un diseño de investigación que nos permite recopilar y sintetizar la mejor evidencia científica respecto a un tema de estudio, de los estudios 6 son revisiones sistemáticas y 7 de cohorte. Resultados: Encontramos 13 estudios relevantes. El 90%(12) refieren que la TPI es efectiva y son de Estados Unidos, Inglaterra,Tanzania, Australia y Brasil; mientras que un 10% (1) de Estados Unidos refiere que no es efectiva en la prevención de la tuberculosis en pacientes con VIH. Dentro de estos estudios se encontró también que la administración de la isoniacida en niños es 90% efectiva, si se administra la isionacida por 36 meses a comparación con 6 meses es mucho más beneficiosa en pacientes con VIH, 6 meses de isoniacida en pacientes con VIH reduce el riesgo de tuberculosis durante los 7 años de seguimiento, una de las causas por las cuales una paciente deja de tomar la isionacida son los efectos hepáticos y la falta de seguimiento para el TPI. Conclusiones: Se concluye que la mayoría refiere que el uso de la isonicida es efectiva en la prevención de la tuberculosis en pacientes que viven con el VIH; también que es importante la quimioprofilaxis con isionacida porque nos ayuda a disminuir los casos de tuberculosis en pacientes que viven con el VIH; por lo tanto también disminuye los casos de mortalidad VIH/TBC.
