Stroke patients experience changes in their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and treatments are focused on the social, psycho-emotional, physical aspects, and reintegration into their ADLs. Patients with this diagnosis are often affected not only by functional disability but also by becoming dependent on a caregiver, often a family member who assumes this responsibility, leaving work and taking on this task. Post-stroke patients, due to balance disturbances and ankle muscle spasticity, have limitations in walking, which impedes their mobility and increases the risk of falls, seriously affecting their functional independence and requiring a caregiver or exclusion from society.
Resumen
La calidad de vida en el paciente con ACV genera cambios en sus AVD, por lo cual, los tratamientos estarán dirigidos en el aspecto social, psicoemocional físico y la reincorporación en sus AVD. Los pacientes con este diagnóstico frecuentemente se ven afectados no solo por presentar una discapacidad funcional sino porque se vuelven dependientes de un cuidador, en ocasiones es la familia que asume esta labor, dejando el trabajar y asumen con esta tarea. Los pacientes post ACV, debido a las alteraciones del balance y con la presencia de espasticidad de los músculos del tobillo, se ven limitados al realizar la marcha, siendo este un impedimento para la deambulación, presentando un índice alto a caídas lo cual afecta seriamente su independencia funcional, y se ve la necesidad de contar con algún cuidador o simplemente que no se incluya en la sociedad
