Family functionality related to the initiation of sexual activity in adolescents from 4th year of secondary school at I.E. Fe y Alegría No. 10 Comas-2015

The onset of adolescence tests the functioning of the family system. The study titled "Family Functionality Related to the Onset of Sexual Activity in Adolescents in the 4th Year of Secondary School at I.E. Fe y Alegría No. 10 Comas-2015" aimed to determine the relationship between family functionality and the onset of sexual activity in adolescents. The research design was quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional. Among the relevant findings, no statistically significant relationship was found between family functionality and the onset of sexual activity (p=0.217). Regarding family functionality, 73% of adolescents came from families with a low level of family functionality. Concerning the onset of sexual activity, 13% of the population had started their sexual activity; of this percentage, 38% began at 14 years of age, with 67% being male, who initiated sexual activity more frequently. The study concludes that most adolescents come from families with low family functionality, and few have started sexual activity. Furthermore, no significant relationship was found between the level of family functionality and the onset of sexual activity.
Resumen
La llegada de la adolescencia pone a prueba el funcionamiento del sistema familiar. El estudio titulado “Funcionalidad familiar relacionado con el inicio de la actividad sexual en adolescentes del 4°año de secundaria de la I.E. Fe y Alegría N° 10 Comas-2015”, tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre la funcionalidad familiar e inicio de la actividad sexual en adolescentes. El diseño de la investigación se realizó con enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo, correlacional, y de corte transversal. Entre los hallazgos relevantes no se encontró que existen relación estadísticamente significativa entre la funcionalidad familiar e inicio de la actividad sexual (p=0,217). Referente a la funcionalidad familiar el 73% de adolescentes pertenecen a familias con bajo nivel de funcionalidad familiar. Acerca del inicio de la actividad sexual de total de la población, el 13% han iniciado su actividad sexual, de este porcentaje el 38% lo inició a los 14 años de edad, siendo el 67% para el sexo masculino, quienes inician con mayor frecuencia. Por lo que se concluye que la mayoría de los adolescentes provienen de familias con bajo nivel de funcionalidad familiar, y son pocos los que han iniciado vida sexual; así mismo no se encontró relación significativa entre el nivel de funcionalidad familiar y el inicio de la actividad sexual.
