Ítem Acceso abierto Aerobic capacity and peripheral muscle strength in adults from the Nauticus gym, Arequipa, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-05-27) Perez Chacon, Luz Delia; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherSedentarism and physical inactivity represent a current public health problem, as one in every four adults of working age does not engage in physical activity, leading to overweight and obesity and increasing the trend of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and others. In this context, it is crucial to understand aerobic capacity, as it reflects the cardiovascular health of an individual. Aerobic capacity is the ability of the body to function efficiently, perform sustained activities with minimal effort, without fatigue, and with rapid recovery. Aerobic exercises induce physiological changes where heart rate reflects the intensity of effort the heart must exert during exercise to meet the body's increased demands. With more training, the tolerance to effort and peripheral muscle strength increase, and their assessment predicts the level of cardiometabolic risk. This is also a fundamental determinant for setting permissible limits for activities such as pushing, pulling, and manual load handling, with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal disorders.Ítem Acceso abierto Changes in post-training peak expiratory flow in adult patients with asthma in a health center in Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-17) Mori Belleza, Samuel Santiago; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherAsthma is one of the most common chronic non-communicable pulmonary diseases, affecting around 334 million people globally and causing 250,000 deaths annually. One of the primary components of asthma is airway flow limitation due to bronchoconstriction, edema, and mucus secretion, which can lead to respiratory failure in the long term. Various studies have examined how training respiratory muscles positively influences the physiological and functional measures of asthmatic patients, producing better alveolar opening, increased ventilation, and reduced airway inflammation. The goal of this study was to determine changes in peak expiratory flow after training in adult asthma patients. A respiratory muscle training protocol was implemented, and a peak flow meter was used to assess airway restriction before and after completing the prescribed exercise program. The study population consisted of all asthma patients attending the Providencia Clinic in the San Miguel district of Lima.Ítem Acceso abierto Chest perimeter in the post respiratory physiotherapy program in post Covid-19 patients in a health center in Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-28) Alvarez Niño de Guzmán, Yanet; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThis research is conducted to contribute to existing knowledge about the use of rehabilitation programs for patients with post-COVID-19 sequelae as part of a treatment protocol in hospitals nationwide. The results will help systematize a proposal to be incorporated into health sciences, particularly in respiratory physiotherapy. It is essential to highlight that the use of various techniques and procedures of respiratory physiotherapy in the context of COVID-19 has demonstrated that these programs improve recovery and performance in individuals with post-COVID-19 sequelae. This study aims to improve the recovery and care of patients with coronavirus sequelae through structured respiratory physiotherapy programs that include chest expansion exercises, rib cage expansion exercises, and directed ventilation exercises, all validated within physiotherapeutic care programs to improve patients' quality of life and reintegrate them into society as quickly as possible.Ítem Acceso abierto Disability and quality of life of older adults with lumbalgia who attend a private clinic, San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-15) Cárdenas de La Cruz, Lucía Edith; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherObesity is considered a public health problem defined as the abnormal accumulation of fat that can be harmful to health. This condition has increased drastically over the past forty years. In 2014, over 1.9 billion adults aged 18 and older had overweight, with more than 600 million having obesity. The prevalence of obesity in adults over 18 years old is 39% for overweight and 13% for obesity. Physical inactivity is one of the determining factors for this health issue. The highest prevalence of inactivity is found in women worldwide (31.7% women and 23.4% men). The regions with the highest prevalence of physical inactivity are Latin American and Caribbean countries (39.1%), followed by Western countries (36.8%) and Asian countries (35.7%). In developed countries, physical inactivity is twice as high as in developing countries (36.8% vs. 16.2%). This study seeks to correlate physical activity levels and obesity using the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and BMI formula, in a population of 200 people undergoing weight and height measurements.Ítem Acceso abierto Distance traveled and its relationship with body mass index in the elderly at the Essalud Huaraz hospital - 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-04) Tapia Jacinto, Kely July; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherPopulation aging is increasing in many countries, and older adults experience fundamental physiological changes that raise the risk of non-communicable diseases (WHO). Inadequate nutrition in older adults reflects in BMI alterations, ranging from weight loss to obesity, affecting physical activity, lung capacity, and heart rate. Therefore, the 6-minute walk test will be applied to measure the distance traveled by older adults. Objective: To determine the relationship between the distance traveled and the body mass index in older adults at EsSalud Huaraz in 2022. The method used for this research will be the hypothetical-deductive applied, correlational descriptive design. The population will consist of 350 older adults attending EsSalud Huaraz, with a non-probabilistic purposive sampling size of 100 older adults. IBM SPSS version 25 for Windows will be used for statistical analysis, aiming to find the relationship between BMI and distance traveled.Ítem Acceso abierto Distance traveled and its relationship with grip strength in adult patients attending a physical medicine center, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-27) Condori Huaracha, Filomena; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherOptimal physical condition is related to health and is primarily made up of strength, endurance, flexibility, and speed, not neglecting other capacities like coordination and balance. Physical capacity is the skill of independence and autonomy not only for performing everyday activities but also for tasks requiring more physical effort and aerobic endurance. In this sense, functional physical capacity and muscle strength decline over the years due to current lifestyles and increased sedentary behavior. Physical inactivity today is a mortality factor, with 6% contributing to it, drawing serious attention to the reduction of functional physical capacity. Muscle strength is a powerful marker of present and future health in the general population; greater muscle mass is related to strength, higher functional capacity, and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and premature mortality. One way to measure physical capacity is through the distance covered and peripheral muscle strength in the upper limb via maximum grip strength executed with a dynamometer.Ítem Acceso abierto Distance traveled and quality of life in post-covid patients at the Aurelio Díaz Ufano y Peral Hospital, San Juan de Lurigancho-Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-18) Peña Morales, Eduardo Felipe; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherPhysical inactivity problems affect people's quality of life and can have serious health consequences. It is important to remain active, and this will be evaluated through a questionnaire called SF-36 and a 6-minute walk test to measure the distance walked. Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de relación entre la distancia recorrida y la calidad de vida de los ex trabajadores del Sindicato de Mineros, Huancavelica 2023.Ítem Acceso abierto Early mobilization and duration of mechanical ventilation in COVID-19 patients treated in the Care Unit Intensive care at the Guillermo Almenara National Hospital Irigoyen, 2020 – 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-02) Vitón Rubio, Lizet Roxana; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThis research project was developed focused on the benefits of early mobilization and determining its correlation with the duration of mechanical ventilation, evaluating protocolized methods, not only for shortening hospital stays but also for improving the patients' quality of life due to the multiple complications caused by COVID-19 infection and prolonged stays in an intensive care unit.Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of a cardiorespiratory exercise program on exercise tolerance in patients post-cardiac surgery at the National Cardiovascular Institute – 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-15) Acosta Ruiz, Anita de Jesús; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherCardiovascular diseases are a group of disorders affecting the heart and occur due to modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. Heart disease is the leading cause of mortality worldwide, making it a public health issue. Among the various treatment options, cardiovascular surgery is an invasive procedure aimed at improving the patient's quality of life. Early cardiac rehabilitation in the ICU seeks to reduce complications related to surgical treatment and plays an important role in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, providing greater functionality and independence, and enhancing patient autonomy.Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of a cardiorespiratory program on exercise tolerance in people with cardiovascular risk factors, Honorio Delgado Hospital Arequipa-2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-04) Huamani Miranda, Yesenia; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe study will examine the effect of a cardiopulmonary program on exercise tolerance in people with cardiovascular risk factors at the Arequipa hospital. In this context, cardiorespiratory rehabilitation through physiotherapy is important, as timely and appropriate treatment can improve the disorders caused by Covid-19 in physical, respiratory, and psychological function.Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of complex decongestant therapy on lymphedema in patients attending the “Rehabilitare Salud“ rehabilitation center, Lima 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-20) Sigüeñas Carazas, Karen Susana; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherComplex decongestive therapy aims to reduce the volume of the affected limb with lymphedema, alleviate symptoms, and prevent progression and complications. The initial stage involves the application of manual lymphatic drainage, pressotherapy, skin care, and exercises, while the second phase focuses on optimizing and maintaining the results obtained from the previous stage.Ítem Restringido Effect of functional positioning on physiological responses in premature infants with mechanical ventilation - Hospital Goyeneche, Arequipa 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-24) Abanto Estrada, Giovana Del Pilar; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe WHO reports 15 million preterm births annually. Due to this increase, there is a need to find methods to stabilize their physiological parameters during their stay in the neonatal ICU. It is important to keep the neonate stable while performing routine procedures in the ICU to ensure less energy expenditure, reduced stress, and optimal growth and maturation. As cardiorespiratory physiotherapists, we can provide this stability through a strategy known as functional positioning. Functional positioning provides alignment and containment for the baby, reducing pain without exceeding routine handling of the infant. For this work, a Physiological Response Assessment Sheet was designed, considering factors such as alignment, containment, and pain as determinants in functional positioning. This will be a quasi-experimental, prospective study with a population of 80 neonates. The sample will be divided into two groups: the experimental group, where infants will be placed in different functional positions, and their physiological responses will be monitored for a week, and the control group, for comparison.Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of physiotherapeutic intervention on muscle strength in patients in the intensive care unit. Adolfo Guevara Velasco National Hospital, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-04-18) Sequeiros Medina, Gleny; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherIn recent years, advances in intensive medicine have significantly reduced the number of deaths in ICU patients. However, this does not mean a quick solution to the illness in critically ill patients, as they often require prolonged ICU stays, considerably increasing the risk of developing complications related to mechanical ventilation and prolonged immobility. This research project, with a quantitative approach and a longitudinal pre-experimental design, will use validated tools such as the manual muscle strength measurement via the Medical Research Council (MRC), referenced as a method for diagnosing acquired muscle weakness in the ICU, and respiratory muscle strength measurement via manovacuometry. The study aims to demonstrate the effect of physiotherapeutic intervention through a respiratory muscle training protocol and early mobilization on muscle strength, highlighting the need for physiotherapists in ICU settings across hospitals to prevent and reverse ICU-acquired weakness.Ítem Acceso abierto Effects of a yoga program on aerobic capacity in older adults at the Francisco Pizarro Polyclinic, Es Salud, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-14) Rojas Almerco, Gina Andrea; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe elderly population is growing rapidly both in our country and globally. However, the number of healthy life years in this age group is decreasing. After age 60, a significant number of older adults have non-communicable chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, decreased aerobic capacity, loss of flexibility, reduced muscle strength, and even sarcopenia. Physical exercise is the only tool capable of counteracting the effects or onset of these conditions. However, the reality is that little to no physical exercise is performed. Yoga, through slow, mindful movements and breathing techniques, provides an opportunity to work on both physical and mental health. As a therapeutic form of exercise, it can improve the aerobic or cardiorespiratory capacity of older adults. This study aims to assess changes in aerobic capacity after a yoga intervention using the 6-minute walk test as a tool.Ítem Restringido Effects of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy on physical deconditioning in tracheotomized patients, Intensive Care Unit - Hospital III Iquitos, 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-21) Oblitas Vasquez, Nathalie Mayte; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe intensive care unit (ICU) provides life support and treatment to critically ill patients who require assisted mechanical ventilation, invasive monitoring, cardiovascular support, and prolonged prescribed or unavoidable rest. This creates limitations, deficiencies, and disabilities during their stay, developing pathological conditions related to the cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems. This increases mortality in patients hospitalized with complications of functional disability and generalized muscular disorders, decreasing their quality of life after hospital discharge. The American Thoracic Society associates ICU-acquired weakness (ICUAW) with generalized weakness in the limbs. It generates multiple impacts, such as in the nervous system, with critical patient polyneuropathy and skeletal muscle dysfunction. ICUAW and neuromuscular dysfunction are predictors for difficulties in weaning from mechanical ventilation (MV). Neuromuscular blockers and corticosteroids are related to ICUAW. This results in difficulties in weaning from MV and consumes approximately 40% of ICU resources. Mechanical ventilation is the most common reason for ICU admission, and when prolonged and unable to be withdrawn, tracheostomy is suggested as the only alternative. Current evidence recommends integrating an exercise program within the ICU, reducing the rate of functional disability.Ítem Acceso abierto Effects of the physical conditioning program on exercise tolerance in chronic respiratory patients in a Vitarte Hospital, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-15) Chipana Rodas, Nely Raquel; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherChronic respiratory diseases are recognized as a global burden with a high incidence rate, which will continue to rise as the population ages. This disease worsens due to physical inactivity, leading to muscle hypotrophy and affecting physical efforts during daily activities. Therefore, physical activity is evaluated through the six-minute walk test before and after physical conditioning.Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of a respiratory physiotherapy program on the level of DYSPNEA in post covid-19 patients, in a clinic in Lima – 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-12) Ramirez Melgarejo, Luis Antonio; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherThe sequelae of COVID-19 lead to musculoskeletal, cardiac, and respiratory alterations that patients continue to experience even after discharge. For this reason, respiratory physiotherapy plays an important role in the management and rehabilitation of patients following the effects of COVID-19.Ítem Acceso abierto Functional physical capacity and muscle mass in patients discharged post-Covid-19 in a health center in Lima, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-16) Espinoza Valdivia, Katherine Lisset; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherIn COVID-19 survivors, after hospital discharge, it has been observed that the aftereffects can persist for more than 12 months. Among these, muscle weakness is one of the most frequent sequelae and plays a key role in estimating the person's physical functional capacity. Understanding these parameters helps us focus on addressing the person from the peripheral to the central level.
