Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of lycopene in patients with hypercholesterolemia in a Lima hospital - 2017.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-26) Del Castillo Vidal, Giuliana Rosa; León Cáceres, Johanna del CarmenObjective: To determine the effect of lycopene on total cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia at a hospital in Lima in 2017. Quantitative study with an analytical, longitudinal, and prospective design. Sample: Comprised of patients with hypercholesterolemia from the Nutrition clinic. Lycopene was administered through a preparation based on tomato juice with olive oil, which was macerated for approximately 8 hours before being consumed on an empty stomach. The study included 50 patients, 21 received tomato juice with olive oil (TJO) and their usual diet, 14 patients only received tomato juice (TJ) with their usual diet, and 15 received only nutritional counseling regarding a 1,000-calorie diet (D). Differences were found between the first and second cholesterol measurements for the tomato juice and olive oil preparations (p=0.000) and the Diet (p=0.006). No differences were demonstrated between the groups. According to the study, the tomato juice and olive oil preparation and the diet had an effect on cholesterol levels; these recommendations would support patients with cardiovascular diseases and dyslipidemias.Ítem Acceso abierto Anemia in children under five years old and its relation to individual characteristics and maternal education, 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-09-10) Pinchi Flores, Romelia; Lozada Urbano, MichellePoverty in Peru has been reduced, but cases of anemia remain very high. Iron deficiency anemia is about half of all causes of anemia cases, the other half is caused by inherited blood disorders or parasitic infections and malaria. We worked with the 2017 National Demographic Health Survey. The population was made up of children aged 0-59 months. The construction of the model proceeded in the following way, the individual characteristics (age, sex, birth number) and the proximal determinants such as place of origin, height, as well as an indicator variable of the mother such as educational level, together with the degrees of anemia (mild, moderate and severe). The results show The variables age of the child (p=0.000), altitude (p=0.000), were associated with severe anemia. The age of the child (p=0.000), a change between female or male sex (p=0.000), a change in birth order (p=0.025), change in urban or rural residence (p=0.005), the altitude (p=0.000), and the educational level of the mother (p=0.000), were associated with moderate anemia. The age of the child (p=0.000), a change between female or male sex (p=0.002), a change in birth order (p=0.003), change in urban or rural residence (p=0.000), the altitude (p=0.000), and the educational level of the mother (p=0.000), were associated with mild anemia. It is concluded with these results that these associated factors should be considered depending on the level of anemia.Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of the use of probiotics (lactobacillus rhamnosus and bifidobacterium longum) in the prevention and control of intestinal dysbiosis. Systematic review.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-09-24) Vega Bazán, Dayana Joyanne; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetObjective: To determine the effect of probiotics (lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) for the prevention and treatment of intestinal dysbiosis in adults. Materials and methods: Systematic review, based on the PRISMA statement and Cochrane Rob 2.0 collaboration. A systematic search was conducted in the databases Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, etc. Ten studies were selected for the final sample. The search strategy was 'Probiotics/intestinal dysbiosis/Clinical uses/Risk and safety/lactobacillus rhamnosus/bifidobacterium longum/Use therapeutic/Gut microbiome.' Results: Of the 10 articles, 9 mentioned probiotic treatments for the symptoms of intestinal dysbiosis (IBS and its subtypes), 2 of the 9 trials included FOS (inulin) in their probiotic composition, and 1 article focused on the treatment against diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile. Seven out of 10 studies showed significant improvements in abdominal pain, abdominal distension, and intestinal permeability (p<0.01; p<0.01; p=0.01), respectively. Conclusion: The use of probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium longum, used in 9 of 10 analyzed articles, reported a significant reduction (p<0.05) in the clinical symptoms typical of intestinal dysbiosis and also showed a preventive effect in individuals with an unaltered microbiota.Ítem Acceso abierto Use of Glutamine in Cancer Patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-15) Arquinio Regalado, Katherine Kathiuska; Mauricio Alza, Saby MarisolThe use of glutamine as part of the nutritional support received by cancer patients. The present secondary research entitled as a critical review: Use of Glutamine in oncological patients, aimed to determine the effectiveness of glutamine in oncological patients. The clinical question was: How effective and safe is glutamine in cancer patients? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search was carried out in Pub Med, Science Direct, Scielo, Google Scholar, Elsevier Scopus, Cochrane, Springer, finding 149 Articles, 40 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE tool, selecting the Clinical Trial entitled Effects Of Oral Glutamine on Inflammatory and Autophagy Responses in Cancer Patients Treated With Abdominal Radiotherapy: A Pilot Randomized Trial, which has a level of evidence I and Grade of recommendation Strong, according to the researcher's expertise. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that glutamine has an effect on reducing the inflammatory response caused by the treatment; the effect must continue to be studied with a more rigorous methodology and on a larger scale.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between nutritional status and anemia in children aged 0-6 months and 6-12 months at the Hospital 11 E Banda de Shilcayo, January to March 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-22) Castro Antunez, Julia Isabel; Lozada Urbano, Michelle FatimaChildren under 5 years old are a vulnerable group due to their rapid growth, development, physical activity, and response to infections. Proper nutrition is necessary to meet their requirements. The objective was to investigate if there is a correlation between nutritional status and anemia. The sample consisted of 78 children, 32 (41%) female and 46 (59%) male. Of the children evaluated, 38.5% presented anemia. According to their nutritional status, 3.8% had chronic malnutrition, 1.3% were underweight, 3.8% had acute malnutrition, and over 96% had normal nutritional status. The mean age was 7.12 months, the average hemoglobin level was 10.89 g/dL, and the average birth weight was 3.24 kg. It was concluded that there is a high prevalence of anemia in children, accounting for 73.3% of the cases. Hemoglobin levels were not correlated with any of the study variables. Anemia could be caused by low iron intake, late introduction of complementary foods, and insufficient consumption of iron-rich foods and foods that promote its absorption. Promoting healthy eating habits, such as introducing complementary foods at six months with iron-rich foods, continuing breastfeeding, and avoiding cow's milk during the first year of life, is essential.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between malnutrition and sociodemographic variables in surgical patients upon discharge from Sergio E. Bernales Hospital(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-26) López Ramirez, Sofia Marisol; Torres Tantavilca, Luisa Lita; Lozada Urbano, MichelleHospital malnutrition is high in hospitalized patients in Latin America. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between BMI and sociodemographic variables in surgical patients discharged from a hospital in Lima - 2018. Multinomial logistic regression was used to model nominal outcome variables. The result of this study includes 236 post-surgical hospitalized patients, 52% are female, the percentage of patients is 15 to 44 years old, next is the group of 45 to 64 years old, only 18% are older adults. Being between 31 and 40 years old or older (p= 0.030) is associated with a decrease of 0.90 in the relative probabilities of being overweight compared to being normal. Being older than 61 years or younger (p=0.040) is associated with a decrease of 0.54 in the relative odds of being overweight compared to being normal. A change in being male or female (p= 0.030) is associated with a 1.27 decrease in the relative odds of being obese compared to being normal. The possibility of being overweight or obese decreases by 1.08 if you are over 61 years of age (p=0.040). This little-studied relationship deserves more attention, the established conditions and recommendations can establish a prompt recovery.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and attitudes about the frontal nutritional labeling of processed and ultra-processed foods of the teachers of the “Public Educational Institution 6050 José Olaya Balandra“ of the district of Chorrillos. Lima, Peru – 2021.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-03) Ventocilla Aguilar, Dayana Nicole; Mauricio Alza, Saby MarisolIn Peru, the sale of processed foods, fast foods and sugary drinks has increased up to 107%; these are responsible for the development of overweight, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, among others. Therefore, a healthy diet is one that will provide energy and essential nutrients, which is commonly known as a balanced diet, which will help us have a good quality of life in the long term. For them, the study "knowledge and attitudes of the front nutritional labeling of processed and ultra-processed foods in teachers of the "Public Educational Institution 6050 José Olaya Balandra" of the district of Chorrillos, Lima - Peru - 2021", aimed to demonstrate the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of the front nutritional labeling of processed and ultra-processed foods in teachers of the “Institución Educativa Pública 6050 José Olaya Balandra”. The study is analytical, descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental and has a quantitative approach. For this purpose, a virtual survey was used as a data collection tool where general questions were considered, ten knowledge questions and ten questions on attitudes towards front nutritional labeling. The results were 3.85% (n=4) a low level, 76.92% (n=80) a medium level and 19.23% (n=20) a high level of knowledge and attitudes 2.88% (n=3). ) have a bad attitude, 31.73% (n=33) have a fair attitude and 65.38% (n=68) have an excellent attitude. Concluding that there is no significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes since the p-value is equal to 1 and at a significance level of 5%, so we can conclude that there is no linear relationship between the two variables.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge of good food handling practices (BPM) and its relationship with the contamination of food served at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital -2022.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-05) Castillo Jimenez, Andres Avelino; Pasache Moreno, Julissa MaríaThe research titled “Knowledge of good food handling practices (GMP) and its relationship with the contamination of food served at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital (HGAI)-2022”; The objective was to determine the relationship between knowledge of Good Handling Practices (GMP) and the contamination of food served to HGAI staff. The results showed that 50.8% had adequate consumption practices, of which 42.9% had an Adequate Nutritional Status; 15.9% had inappropriate consumption practices. In relation to weight gain, 27% obtained adequate weight gain with adequate consumption practices, 9.5% obtained inadequate weight gain with inadequate consumption practices. 46.2% without anemia with a Hemoglobin value ≥11 g/dl with appropriate consumption practices, 4.9% with anemia hemoglobin 11 g/dl with inadequate food consumption practices. There is a significant relationship between consumption practices and the Nutritional Status of the pregnant woman in the last trimester of pregnancy (p=005).Ítem Acceso abierto Dietary intake at high altitudes and nutritional status in adolescent pregnant women attended at Pampas Hospital – Huancavelica, 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-04-24) Cahuaya Pacoricona, Lionel Dante; Lozada Urbano, MichelleThe study aimed to correlate dietary intake with height and nutritional status of pregnant adolescents. Executed in Pampas-Huancavelica-Peru, at 3,251 meters above sea level. Cross-sectional study, 32 pregnant adolescents who met the inclusion criteria were interviewed; dietary intake was carried out with the 24-hour recall technique (R24H). The results show that energy, protein and fats are below the nutritional requirements, [average-adequacy] [energy: 2261.7 Kcal/day-80.8%], [proteins: 58.8 gr./day-78.9%], [ fats: 54.8 gr./day- 69.9%]. Carbohydrates showed values closer to adequacy [462.6 gr./day-95.5%]. Vitamins and minerals showed higher percentages of inadequacy, Thiamin (1.1 mg/day) 76.4%, Niacin 84.6%, Folic acid 80.2%, Cobalamin 77.1%, Vitamin A 86.5%, Riboflavin 77.3%, Iron 70.5%, Calcium 68.5 %, Phosphorus 76.6%, Iodine 84.1% and Zinc 82.3%. They showed a normal nutritional status 40.6%, underweight 56.2% and overweight 3.1%, with anemia 71.9% and without anemia 28.1%. A correlation was found between the adequacy of dietary intake at altitude (energy and nutrients) and nutritional status in pregnant adolescents; it was determined that there is a positive and significant correlation between the variables p<0.05, except for fat. We must focus on prevention, detection and timely treatment of anemia in women throughout their reproductive age and strengthen supplementation with iron or other micronutrients to reach 100% of pregnant women.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between fasting and the degree of malnutrition in surgical patients at Sergio E. Bernales Hospital(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-06-26) García Contreras, Rocío del Pilar; Vargas Soto, Maritza Felicidad; Mauricio Alza, Saby MarisolMalnutrition is a negative factor independently associated with post-surgical complications, mortality, prolongation of hospital stay and therefore higher healthcare costs. The general objective is to determine the relationship between fasting time and the degree of hospital malnutrition in surgical patients at the Sergio E. Bernales hospital. Additionally, analyze each variable based on demographic factors such as sex, age, educational level, occupation. The descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on 244 patients with abdominal and wall surgery (128 women and 116 men), aged between 15 - 65 years, selected in a non-probabilistic way for convenience for data collection, screening was carried out. Nutritional, nutritional metabolic evolution and the clinical history was reviewed to measure the fasting time in the postoperative period and at discharge. The results allow us to show that 70.5% of patients had a fasting time of less than 24 hours, the postoperative BMI is different from the BMI at discharge, so the Ho hypothesis was rejected, on the other hand, the hospital stay was 6.28 days on average. It is concluded that fasting correlates with BMI during the postoperative period and with BMI during discharge (p=0.000). The variables sex and occupation were also associated with the nutritional diagnosis.Ítem Acceso abierto Importance of cardiotocography and its interpretation in gestational diabetes"(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-06-28) Villanueva Arequipeño, Liz Soledad; Fernández Ledesma, Scarlett EstelaTo present the clinical case of a 39-year-old pregnant woman, multigravida at 37.3 weeks according to second-trimester ultrasound, with no prior history of diabetes or family history of diabetes. However, her obstetric history included fetal death, spontaneous abortion, and hospitalization one month earlier for uncontrolled gestational diabetes. The patient presented to the emergency department of a healthcare institution on August 26, 2017, at 10:24 a.m. due to decreased fetal movements for two days. Two fetal well-being tests were performed: a non-stress test (NST) with a non-reassuring pattern and a biophysical profile (BPP) indicating 37 weeks of gestation with a score of 6/8, nuchal cord, and an estimated fetal weight of 3329 grams. Blood glucose was 63 mg/dL. An endocrinology consultation recommended continuous glucose monitoring, dietary adjustments, and insulin treatment. With these clinical findings, the patient was transferred to the delivery room, where a stress test (CST) yielded unsatisfactory results. At 10:44 p.m., due to the absence of an indication for delivery and a glucose level of 62 mg/dL, the on-duty physician recommended hospitalization. Fetal heart rates were monitored every three hours during the night and found to be normal. However, at 8:00 a.m., fetal heart sounds were absent, confirmed by ultrasound, leading to an abdominal delivery. Operative findings: fetal death, female fetus, APGAR 0/0, Capurro: 37 weeks, weight: 3280 grams, placenta: 500 grams with complete cotyledons, intact membranes, thick meconium-stained amniotic fluid in small quantities, and a slightly tightened single nuchal cord. Conclusion: Proper recording and interpretation of cardiotocographic parameters in electronic fetal monitoring in diabetic pregnant women are crucial to identifying fetal risks, ensuring timely management, and preventing maternal and perinatal complications.Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: effect of consuming whole grains on the prevention of colorectal cancer(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-09) Valle Elescano, Renee Amparo; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetColon cancer is in first place in the case of cancer morbidities.
