Attitude of mothers of children aged 6 to 35 months and their relation to micronutrient supplementation at the primary care center of Breña, Lima-2018

Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between the attitude of mothers of children from 6 to 35 months of age and the supply of micronutrients at the Primary Care Center in Breña. Material and methods: The approach was quantitative, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional. The sample was made up of 116 mothers of children from 6 to 35 months of age. Results: The study sample presents an attitude of the mothers that is not very appropriate at 56.9% and that is inadequate at 43.1%. It should be noted that none of the mothers surveyed presented an adequate attitude. The inadequate effect is repeated in its three dimensions: cognitive, 100%; affective with 98.3%; and the behavioral dimension, with 97.4%. Regarding the second variable, micronutrient supply, it was found that 93.1% have a poorly adequate supply. 93.1% show adequate preparation and administration of micronutrients. Regarding side effects, 57.8% were adequate, however, the monitoring of supplementation was inadequate in 49.1%. Conclusions: There is no relationship between the attitude of mothers of children from 6 to 35 months and the supply of micronutrients at the Breña Health Center.
Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre la actitud de las madres de niños de 6 a 35 meses de edad y el suministro de micronutrientes del Centro de Atención Primaria en Breña. Material y métodos: El enfoque fue cuantitativo, tipo descriptivo correlacional y de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 116 madres de niños de 6 a 35 meses de edad. Resultados: La muestra de estudio presenta, una actitud de las madres poco adecuada 56.9 % e inadecuada con un 43.1 %, cabe resaltar que ninguna de las madres encuestadas presentó una actitud adecuada. El efecto poco adecuado se repite en sus tres dimensiones: cognitivo, 100%; afectivo con 98.3%; y la dimensión conductual, con un 97.4%. Con respecto a la segunda variable, suministro de micronutriente, se halló que el 93.1 % tiene un suministro poco adecuado. El 93.1 % muestra una preparación y administración de micronutrientes adecuada. En cuanto a Efectos secundarios el 57.8 % fue adecuado, sin embargo, el monitoreo de la suplementación fue poco adecuado en un 49.1%. Conclusiones: No existe relación entre la actitud de las madres de niños de 6 a 35 meses y el suministro de micronutrientes del Centro de Salud de Breña.
