Callao, 2024
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-04-11) Bonilla Mundaca, Lucerito Mayde; Mamani Yauyos, Julia Cristina; Llahuilla Quea, José Antonio

Exposure to ionizing radiation and its effect on the health of healthcare workers
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Cortabrazo Asencio, Roxana Jacqueline; La Madrid Sanchez, Kattia Angelica; Borda Izquierdo, Alejandro
Objective: To systematize the available evidence on the effect of exposure to ionizing radiation on the health of healthcare workers. Materials and Methods: This work involves systematic reviews, with an observational and retrospective design, synthesizing the results of multiple studies. These are essential to Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) due to their rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to address specific clinical practice questions. The search was restricted to full-text articles, which were critically assessed using the GRADE system to assign the strength of recommendations. Results: Ten scientific articles were reviewed; 20% (2) were from Colombia, 20% (2) from Spain, 20% (2) from Cuba, 10% (1) from Argentina, 10% (1) from Brazil, 10% (1) from the United States, and 10% (1) from Peru. Nine studies were systematic reviews (90%) and one study was quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational, and retrospective (10%). According to the results, 100% (10) of the studies showed that exposure to ionizing radiation has a negative effect on the health of healthcare workers, causing harmful damage such as thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, gastric intestinal metaplasia, chromosomal aberrations, apoptosis, mutations, genomic instability, male infertility, and leukemia. Conclusions: Ionizing radiation exposure has a negative effect on healthcare workers' health; inappropriate and irrational use can lead to severe health consequences due to genotoxic and carcinogenic effects that increase frequently with prolonged exposure over days, months, and years. Therefore, safety measures must always be in place to prevent these effects.

Quality of life and family functionality in patients with chronic renal insufficiency undergoing hemodialysis treatment at the Francisco de San Juan de Lurigancho Clinic, Lima - 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-11-28) Vilca Moreno, Evelyn Rocio; Fernández Rengifo, Werther Fernando
Introduction: Chronic kidney disease not only causes serious consequences for the patient in all dimensions of their health and quality of life, but it also directly involves their immediate family environment. Renal replacement through hemodialysis is a therapeutic alternative, but it affects the lifestyle and quality of life of the patient and their family members, who play a fundamental role that can have a positive or negative impact on the patient. Objective: To determine how quality of life is related to family functionality in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis treatment at the Francisco I Clinic in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima – 2021. Methods: The study will be observational, descriptive, relational, and cross-sectional. An intentional sample of 90 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis replacement therapy will be selected between October and December 2021. A survey using validated and reliable instruments will be applied to estimate health-related quality of life through the KDQOL-36 questionnaire, developed by the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Working Group. It is an abbreviated version of the KDQOL-SF, with 36 items, designed for use with dialysis patients, which helps reduce interview time and optimize acceptance. To estimate family functioning, the Family Apgar instrument will be used, a useful psychometric tool that shows how family members perceive the overall level of functioning or functionality of the family unit.
