The aim of this study is to establish the relationship of the factors between sociodemographic-and obstetric factors and the choice of a contraceptive method at San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital in 2024. The study employed a non-experimental, retrospective, quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive design, with a sample of 287 medical records and patients who visited the hospital between July and December 2024. The study employed document review as its methodological approach and used a data collection form as the research instrument. The results show that there is a relationship between the choice of a contraceptive method and the variables of marital status and occupation, with p-values of 0.00 and 0.01, respectively. However, there is no significant relationship with the choice of a contraceptive method regarding educational level, as the p-value is 0.49. Level of education was also not related, with a p-value of 0.21, nor was religion, as the statistical significance was 0.81. Among the obstetric factors, parity was significant (p = 0.04); the type of delivery was not significant (p = 0.00); the interpregnancy interval was not significant (p = 0.00); The choice of contraceptive method was significantly associated with the number of children (p=0.00); and, finally, the choice of contraceptive method was not significant (p = 0.01). Except for the variables age at sexual debut, which showed no association (p-value of 0.37), and age at first pregnancy, which showed no association with the choice of a contraceptive method. In conclusion, there is a relationship between the variables marital status, occupation, parity, type of delivery, interbirth interval, and number of children and the choice of a contraceptive method, with a p-value less than 0.05.
