Determine the level of knowledge of mothers about breastfeeding in premature neonates in the intermediate care unit at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, 2020. Material and method: we carried out a descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective study in 70 mothers of premature babies in the unit. intermediate care in the Hospital. Mothers without debilitating or immunosuppressive diseases, with a newborn without severe complications during pregnancy, and who had voluntarily agreed to participate in the project with the informed consent form were included. The technique used was the survey, through the questionnaire modified by Carranza & Palma (2017) and validated for this study called “Knowledge Questionnaire of Mothers of Premature Babies about Breastfeeding” – CCOMLA, which consists of 18 questions. Results: Of the total, 48.6% corresponded to the age group of 30-39 years, they were mostly married (35.7%), with a higher education degree (45.7%). Also, 38 (54.3%) mothers had a dependent occupation and 50 (71.4%) mothers had a previous child. The gestational age of the most frequent was 32 weeks (50%), with a hospitalization time of >15 days (68.6%). Of the total, 57.1% (40 mothers) had medium knowledge and 38.6% (27 mothers) had a high level of knowledge. Conclusion: There is a moderate level of knowledge of mothers about breastfeeding in premature neonates in the intermediate care unit at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, 2020.
Resumen
determinar el nivel de conocimientos de las madres sobre lactancia materna en neonatos prematuros en unidad de cuidado intermedio en el Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, 2020. Material y método: realizamos un estudio descriptivo, de corte trasversal, prospectivo en 70 madres de prematuros de la unidad de cuidado intermedio en el Hospital. Se incluyeron madres sin enfermedades debilitantes o inmunodepresoras, con neonato sin complicaciones severas durante el embarazo, y que hayan aceptado voluntariamente participar del proyecto con la forma del consentimiento informado. La técnica utilizada en fue la encuesta, a través del cuestionario modificado de Carranza & Palma (2017) y validado para este estudio denominado Cuestionario de conocimientos de las madres de prematuros sobre lactancia” – CCOMLA, que consta de 18 preguntas. Resultados: Del total 48.6% correspondieron al grupo etario de 30-39 años, fueron mayoritariamente casadas (35.7%), con grado de instrucción superior (45.7%). También, 38 (54.3%) madres tuvieron ocupación dependiente y 50 (71.4%) madres tuvieron un hijo previo. La edad gestacional del más frecuente fue 32 semanas (50%), con un tiempo de hospitalización de >15 días (68.6%). Del total 57.1% (40 madres) tuvieron conocimientos medios y 38.6% (27 madres) presentaron un nivel de conocimiento alto. Conclusión: Existe un moderado nivel de conocimientos de las madres sobre lactancia materna en neonatos prematuros en unidad de cuidado intermedio en el Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, 2020.
