Knowledge and participation of parents on the care of hospitalized children in the pediatric service of a hospital in Lima - 2021

Nursing professionals are aware of the difficulties that parents face when dealing with the situation of seeing their child hospitalized. For this reason, the guidance and training provided by nurses to the parents of hospitalized children tend to generate feelings of greater security in providing care for their child, encouraging greater participation and responsibility from them. The general objective of the study is to determine the relationship between the knowledge of parents and their participation in the care of their hospitalized child in the Pediatrics department of a hospital in Lima - 2021. The research is applied with a quantitative approach, correlational and cross-sectional level. The population and sample will consist of the parents of children hospitalized in the pediatrics service from September of the current year to February 2022 at a hospital in Lima. The technique will be the survey, and the questionnaire will be divided into two parts: the first part contains general data, and the second part consists of two segments: the first corresponds to "parental knowledge," and the second is "parental participation." The questionnaire was created and validated by authors Calderón, C., Loza, L., and Muñico, J. in 2017. The reliability results for the "parental knowledge" questionnaire obtained a Cronbach's Alpha = 0.7, making the instrument acceptable. The results for the "parental participation" questionnaire obtained a Cronbach's Alpha = 0.8, indicating that the instrument is good. Data processing will be done using the SPSS 27 statistical software.
Resumen
Los profesionales de enfermería conocen acerca de las carencias que tienen los padres al enfrentar la circunstancia de ver a su niño hospitalizado, por esta razón las orientaciones y capacitaciones efectuadas por enfermeros, a los padres de niños hospitalizados, tienden a generar sentimientos de mayor seguridad para realizar los cuidados a su menor hijo, incentivando más la participación y la responsabilidad en ellos. El estudio tiene como objetivo general determinar la relación que existe entre el conocimiento de los padres y su participación sobre el cuidado del niño hospitalizado en el servicio de Pediatría de un Hospital de Lima - 2021. La investigación es aplicada de enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel correlacional y transversal. La población y muestra serán los padres de los niños hospitalizados en el servicio de pediatría en el periodo de septiembre del presente año a febrero del 2022 en un Hospital de Lima. La técnica será la encuesta y se trabajará con el cuestionario que consta de dos partes; la primera constituye los datos generales y la segunda parte está conformada por dos segmentos: el primero corresponde “conocimiento de los padres“ y el segundo “participación de los padres“. El cuestionario fue creado y validado por las autoras Calderón, C. Loza, L. y Muñico, J. en el 2017. Los resultados de confiabilidad para el cuestionario sobre “conocimiento de los padres“ obtuvo un Alfa de Cronbach= 0,7 el instrumento es aceptable. Los resultados para el cuestionario acerca de “participación de los padres“ obtuvo un Alfa de Cronbach= 0,8 indicando que el instrumento es bueno. Para el procesamiento de datos se empleará el estadístico SPSS 27.
