The sample consisted of 453 students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th year of secondary school, aged between 14 and 18. The instruments used were the Family Cohesion and Adaptability Evaluation Scale (FACES III) and the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) by Buss and Perry. Similarly, an inverse relationship was found for physical aggression (p < 0.05; r = -0.115) and hostility (p < 0.05; r = -0.159) with family functioning. No correlation was found between family functioning and the other two dimensions of aggression: verbal aggression (p > 0.05; r = -0.007) and anger (p > 0.05; r = -0.052). It was inferred that students with adequate family functioning would develop lower levels of aggression.Ítem Acceso abierto Emotional intelligence and self-esteem in high school students at a public educational institution in Mala District, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-23) Eugenio Medina, Yerismina Magdalena; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThis study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem among secondary school students from a public institution in the district of Mala. This study was descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional. The population consisted of 410 students from 4th and 5th secondary grades of four educational institutions in Ate Vitarte. The sample was non-probabilistic and intentional. The Parental Socialization Styles Scale (ESPA29) was used to evaluate parental socialization, and the Social Skills Scale by Elena Gismero González was used for social skills. The hypotheses were tested using Spearman's rho. It was found that there was no significant correlation between the Acceptance/Implication dimension and social skills, both with the father (rho = 0.101; p = 0.08 > 0.05) and the mother (rho = -0.72; p = 0.216 > 0.05). The same trend was observed when correlating the Coercion/Imposition dimension with social skills. Negative correlations were found with indifference and dialogue of both parents and physical coercion from the father, with a weak positive correlation in the mother's affection dimension. The conclusion was that there is no significant relationship (p > 0.05) between parental socialization and social skills in secondary school students from institutions in Ate in 2019. This means that the knowledge, attitudes, values, customs, needs, feelings, and other cultural patterns transmitted within the family environment through paternal and maternal roles do not condition the behavior of children.Ítem Acceso abierto Resilience and depressive symptoms in adults during the coronavirus health crisis in the district of Santiago de Surco, Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-23) Vela Panduro, Perlit; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe aim of this study was to determine the relationship between resilience and depressive symptoms in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in a district of Lima. This was a quantitative, descriptive-correlational study applied to 216 participants from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years of secondary school. The Rumination Response Scale by Nolen-Hoeksema and Morrow (1991) and the Body Image Dissatisfaction Scale by Cooper, Taylor, Cooper, and Fairburn (1987), both adapted to Spanish and the Peruvian context, were used. The results showed a direct, significant, and moderate relationship (p = .000 and rho = .597) between the ruminative thinking style and body image dissatisfaction, as well as between the dimensions of each variable. Furthermore, it was found that 87% of adolescents had moderate levels of rumination, 12% exhibited a ruminative style, and 36.6% presented body dissatisfaction at some level. It is concluded that high rumination scores tend to be associated with high body dissatisfaction scores, suggesting that both reproaches and reflection styles may be linked to concerns about weight and body dissatisfaction.Ítem Acceso abierto Resilience and work motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic in the operational and administrative staff of the National Center for Public Health and the National Center for Quality Control of the National Institute of Health. Peru - 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-28) Quispe Caballero, Yuly; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe research was developed to determine the correlation between resilience and depressive symptomatology in adolescents and young people institutionalized in religious foster homes in Peru in 2021. A total of 122 adolescents and young people were evaluated using the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory II - adapted (BDI-IIA). The results showed that resilience and depressive symptomatology were highly significantly correlated (p<.001); the association of these variables described a negative slope (rho<0) with moderate-high strength and a large effect size. The Academic Motivation Scale (EMAV) by Gómez (2019) and the Revised Study Habits Inventory (CASM-85-R) by Vicuña (2005) were administered. The findings indicated that 32% (57) of students were in a negative trend level for study habits, while 33.1% (59) showed a low level of academic motivation. On the other hand, there was a highly significant and direct correlation between the study variables. The dimensions of academic motivation: interest, task/ability, and exams had a significant (p < .05) and highly significant (p < .01) correlation with study habits. It was concluded that, with higher academic motivation scores, study habits scores were proportionally higher in the analyzed sample.
